Mr. William Saccoccio was present to report on changes to the
Pickering Township Sports Arena.
Moved by Councillor Chatten, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger
that Mr. Saccoccio be heard.
Mr. Saccoccio reported to Council on the followin¡ items.

The Council agreed that the clear concrete hardener be
used.

Viewing window - Caretaker's window
Mr. Saccoccio explained and provided to Council the
difference in costs between instalation of Georgian plate
glass to an armour plate glass in the above two locations.
He also supplied a comparative price to those prices
obtained by the Township.

Township an additional ~15.00 (glazing)
Mr. Saccoccio made reference to the glass in the main
lobby and whether Council would like armour plate
installed to replace th~ Georgian plate at an extra
cost of $90.00. After due consideration, and the
fact that this will be protected by a chain-link type
of fence placed along the railing of the hockey rink,
Council felt to have armour plate glass in this area
was not necessary.

Moved by Councillor Kitchen, seconded by Councillor Chatten,
that Council authorize Mr. Saccoccio to instruct the contractor
for the Pickering Sports Arena to install armour plate glass
replacing the Georgian plate in both the 59' x 5' viewing
window and the 5' x 5' window of the caretaker's room for a
difference in cost to the Tgwnship of $325.00, plus $15.00
additional charge for glazing.

that Mrs. Bruce Mitchell be heard.
Mrs. Mitchell addressed the Council in opposition to the proposed
instalation of municipal water and sewage services for the
community of Pickering Beach, Ontario.
See Prepared brief on file.
Reeve Williams advised Mrs. Mitchell that until the three
Government bodies: Ontario \~ter Resources Commission, The
Ontario County Health Unit, and The Ontario Department of Health,
can get together and present decisive figures on the condition
of wells in Pickering Beach, no action will be taken to the
instalation of a municipal water system in that area.
Instructions: The Clerk to contact Ontario Water Resources
Commission, The Ontario County Health Unit and the Ontario
Department of Health, requesting them to present a combined
statement of fact upon which Council can arrive at some
conclusion with respect to the servicing in the Pickering Beach
area.

Mrs. C. K. Pentland forwards petition requesting that a sign be
posted identifying Altona Road as Altona Road and not as County
Road #27.
The City of Welland forwards their resolution with respect to
the provision of a rebate or elimination of school taxes where
the taxpayer'.. is over the age of 65 years or in receipt of a
fixed income and whose income can be shown to be below a
reasonable standard, and requests the Township of Pickering to
endorse same.

The Lakeshore Municipal Hydro Systems extends an invitation to
Council to attend a general meeting scheduled for March l2,
1970, at 6:00 p.m., Fleetwood Room, Genosha Hotel, Oshawa.
The purpose of the meeting is to elect a new chairman and to
consider the next step in connection with the Regional Government
Study.

The Department of Energy and Resources Management advises of a
conference on the impact of air pollution on vegetation at the
Park Plaza Hotel, Toronto, April 7 to 9,1970.
The Department of Municipal Affairs acknowledges receipt of the
endorsation of the Borough of Scarborough's resolution requesting
legislation to enable municipalities to regulate lot grading
and drainage on development lands.

The Ontario Water Resources Commission advises that Mr. Raymond
ftichards has completed the training and examination for the
Sixth Basic Sewage Works Operators' Course, obtaining a Grade A
and having a mark of 87.
Mr. Gordon S. Smith, Director, makes formal request to the
Council for a member of the Township Council to serve on the
proposed Sheltered Workshop and Training Centre Administration
Authority.

V. Rudik, that the rleeve and Clerk be authorized to petition
the Department of Highways of Ontario for subsidy on the amount
of $707,637.23 for the 1969 expenditures.

this Council does hereby endorse the recommendations of the
Pickering Township Planning Board on February 17th, 1970
regarding the 'livestock' and 'frontage on a street' objections
received with respect to By-law 3712; and hereby declares the
objections as invalid on the grounds that they are contrary to
the intent of the By-law and in the case of non-conforming uses,
the status of same is not affected by the By-law.

acquisition with the Hydro officials.

Councillor Mrs. J. L. McPherson moved a notice of motion that
the Township of Pickering assume Lakecreat St. as a public
road.
Councillor Kruger submitted a motion dealing with the proposed
Century City Development Ltd.
Councillor Kruger announced the completion of a $4 million loan
to finance the first stage of the development in Uxbridge Township.
He indicated and Council agreed that the Township should fight
any attempt to establish the sewer plant in the Altona area;
and further that the development should not be permitted until
all education costs have been explained to all the municipalities
in the County of Ontario.
Instructi°nä: Clerk to submit the draft copy of the resolution
to the Planning and Engineering Departments for their individual
comments and revised wording of the resolution if it was felt

leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Pickering to
confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of
the Township of Pickering at its meeting held on the 2nd day
of March, 1970, and that same now be read a first time.
