A meeting of the Pickering Township
Council was held on MONDAY, the

Moved by Councillor A. King, seconded by Councillor J. Kruger
that the minutes of the Council meeting of May 26, 1969, be
adopted as presented.

CORRES?ONOENC
1. The Kiwanis Club of West Rouge advises of the West Rouge
Annual Box Derby and requests the closing of Island Road
between the hours of 12:O0 and 4:~00 p.m. on June 21, 1969.
See Resolution #115/69.
2. The Ontario Municipal Board forwards copy of order dated
May 15 dismissing application of Ernes~t L. Stroud against a
decision of the Committee of Adjustmen~ of the Township of
Picketing.

By-Law Number 3668 - Two Readings Only
Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor R. Mason,~
moves for Xeave to introduce a By-law cf the Township .f
Picketing to authorize the construction and equipping of an
la,,er ~ce a~e~a, Part ~t 19, Eamse ~, Tc~p of Pickeri~,
and that same now be read a filet time.
Deputy Reeve R. Chatten, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik,
moves that By-law Number 3668 to authorize the construction
and equipping of an indoor ice arena be now read a second
ti,~, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

Instructions - Clerk to write a letter to the Chairman of the Ontario
Municipal Board requesting that the application for both the arena
and swimming pool be expedited including copy of offer to purchase
and other pertinent materials.
By-Law Number 3669
Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Deputy Reeve R. Chatten,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of
Pickering to adopt the 1969 Budgets and to provide for the
Levy of all Non-educational Rates required to raise the various
sums of money in such Budgets, save and except Local
Improvements, and that same now be read a first time.

Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik, moves
that By-law Number 3669 to adopt the 1969 budgets and to
provide for the Levy of all Non-ed6cational Rates required
to raise the various sums of money in such budgets, save'
and except Local Improvements, be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law
as read.
Councillor J. Kruger. seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen,
moves that the report of ~he Committee of the Whole on By-law
Number 3669 be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read
a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign the
same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

By-Law Number 3670
Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor A. Mason, moves
for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Picketing
to levy such rates against all the assessed properties in
the Township of Picketing as will be required to operate
the various Public, Separate and High School Boards, and to
pay the Debentures and Interest falling due for Schools in
the year 1969, and that same now be read a first time.
Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen, moves
that By-law Number 3670 to levy such rates against all the
assessed properties in the Township of Pickering as will be
required to operate the various Public, Separate and High

Councillor Kruger delivered a budget speech summarizing the 1969
budgets and the effects it will have on the 1969 tax mill rates.
Each member of the Council gave his own views and varying effects
the budget will have on property taxes in the Township of Picketing.

Resolution #115/69
MOVED by Councillor J. Kruger, seconded by Councillor V. Rudik,
that the Council of the Township of Pickering authorizes the
closing of Island Road between the hours of 12:00 noon and
4:00 p.m. on June 21, 1969, from Friendship Avenue at the
West Rouge Shopping Plaza to the intersection with Rouge Hills
Drive, to-permit the Kiwanis Club to carry out their Annual
Box Derby, and authorize the Engineer and Police Chief to
provide whatever assistance is required.

Moved by Councillor A. King, seconded by Deputy Reeve R,
Chatten that this meeting now adjourn at 9:35 p.m. to convene
into Committee of the Whole Council.
