(VI) RESOLUTIONS Resolution #249/72 MOVED by Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson, that the tender submitted by Flintkote Company of Canada Limited for ;urface treatment on Township ecads in the amounts of: Prime - $0.226 per gallon, Emulsion- $0.196 per gallon~ l/2;; Gravel Chips - $4.80 per ton, and 1/2,1 Limestone Chips (alternative if required) - $5.60 per ton, be accepted subject to the approval of the Department of Transportation and Communications. Anderson, that the tender of Miller Paving Ltd. in the amount of $5,722.50 be accepted for Asphalt pavement repairs subject to the approvals of the Department of Transportation and Communications. CARRIED Resolution #25l/72 MOVED by Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson, that the tender of Miller Paving Ltd. in the amount of $32,472.65 be accepted for the supply of Hot Laid Asphalt, subject to the approvals of the Department of Transportation and Communications. CARRIED Resolution #252/72 MOVED by Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson, that the tender of Raylena Construction Company Ltd. in the amount of $89,649.50 be accepted for the construction of a watermain in the Kingston Rd., Royal Rd., Guild Rd.~ Brock Rd., and Finch Ave. local improvement area. CARRIED - 4 - 18/72 Resolution #253/72 MOVED by Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson, that the tender of Seal Top Paving Co. in the amount of $76,406.00 be accepted for the construction of a road and watermains in Lot l8, Range 3 and Montgomery P rk Road, subject to the approvals of the Department of Transportation and Communications. (Area #23) CARRIED Resolution #254/72 MOVED by Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson, that the Council of the Township of Pickering not pursue the purchase of the Rouge Hill United -Church property for library purposes, and further, that Council look into other alternative buildings and sites, as recommended by the Executive Committee, July 10, 1972. CARRIED Councillor Quick suggested that a meeting with the Library Board take place as soon as possible to review alternatives. Resolution #255/72 MOVED by Councillor J. Anderson, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen, that the Township Manager, Mr. C. I. Shelley, obtain an appraisal on the 1.508 acres of land in Part Lot N l/2 18, Concession 1, as recommended by the Executive Committee in Closed Session, July lO, 1972. CARRIED Resolution #256/72 MOVED by Councillor J. Anderson, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen, that the Offer of Purchase and Sale for approximately 1-l/2 acres of Pickering Township industrial lands, as submitted by Tri-Service Fabricating Ltd. at the price of $10,000.00 per acre be accepted as presented, as recommended by the Executive Committee in Closed Session, July 10,1972. CARRIED (VII) BY-LAWS By-Law Number 4225/72 Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the execution of.an Agreement between the Corporation of the Township of Pickering and the Canadian Union of Public Employees and its Local #129, and that same now be read a first time. Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Councillor D. Quick, moves that By-law number 4225/72 to authorize the execution of an Agreement between the Corporation of the Township of Pickering and the Canadian Union of Public Employees and its Local #l29 be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read. - 5 - 18/72 Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law Number 4225/72 be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED By-Law Number 4226/72 Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Councillor D. Quick moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Pickering to stop up and close a part of a road known as Notion Road (formerly Station Road), and that same now be read a first time. Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson, moves that By-law Number 4226/72 to stop up and close a part of a road known as Notion Road (formerly Station Road) be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read. Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Councillor D. Quick, moves that the report of the Committee of the Wb~le on By-law Numbe~ ~2Z6/72 ~e adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED (VIII) NEW BUSINESS l. Agendas for Executive Committee meetings Councillor D. Kitchen inquired as to whether the agendas for the Executive Committee meetings would be prepare~ in the same manner as Council agendas, complete with back-up material, for Council members as well as the news media. He was assured that the agendas would be completed for b9th bodies in the usual manner. 2. Day Care Centre Deputy Reeve G. Ashe noted that the Day Care project was approximately one week behind schedule, suggesting the Work Program Committee investigate to see that the project is completed and ready for furnishings prior to the July 31st, 1972 deadline, when the 10a% subsidy will be reduced to 80%. Clerk to investigate scheduling of project. Transmission of p~~~r from Nanticok~,t~ Pickering 3. Deputy Reeve G. Ashe brought to the attention of the Council a notice relative to a hearing on the transmission of power from Nanticoke to Pickering. The Council were surprised to learn of this hearing through the news media, expressing their opinions that they should have had prior notification. Clerk to inquire into the meeting spheduled with the Hydro, postponed due to the announcement of the airport made on March 2, 1972. - 6 - l8/72 (IX) CONFIRMATION BY-LAW By-Law Number 4227/72 Councillor D. Kitchen, moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township of Pickering to confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering at its meeting held on the 17th day of July, 1972, and that same now be read a first time. Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson moves that By-law ~umber 4227/72 to confirm the proceed- ings of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering at its meeting held on the 17th day of July, 1972 be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the whole thereon.
