COUNCIL MEETING
A meeting of the Pickering Township
Council was held on MONDAY, the 24th
day of April, 1972, at 9:lS p.m.

Moved by Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor D. Quick,
that the Council move out of Committee of the Whole to reconvene
into Council to deal with the following emergent items.

RESOLUTIONS
Resolution *148/72
Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor Mrs. J. L.
McPherson, that Daylight Saving Time become effective
in the Township of Pickering on April 30th, 1972, at
2:00 a.m. and that same be advertised in the local
newspapers.

Resolution #149/72
MOVED by Councillor D. Kitchen, seconded by Deputy
Reeve G. Ashe, that the quotation of Sicard Equipment
Ltd. for the supply of one Heil 20 cubic yard Garbage
Packer at a price of $8,793.75 installed be accepted.

By-Law *39~3/7l - Third Reading
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law
as read.
Ceputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen,
moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole
on By-law Number 3943/71,to authorize the enlargement
and improvement of the Bay Road Sewage Treatment Plant
be adopted, and that the said By-law be now read a
Third Time and PASSED, that the Reeve and Clerk sign
the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto.

By-Law Number 4177/72
Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township
of Pickering to provide an alternate for the Head of
Council Ex-Officio Member of Boards, and that same now
be read a first time. (Deputy Reeve G. Ashe)
Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor K. Matheson,
moves that By-law Number 4177/72 to provide an alternate
for the Head of Council Ex-Officio Member of Boards,
be now read a second time, and that Council go into
Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the
By-law as read.
Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor J. Anderson
moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on
By-Law Number 4177/72 be adopted, and that the said
by-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the
Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto.

By-Law Number 4178/72
Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Township
of Pickering to define and determine the duties and
responsibilities of the Township Manager and repeal
by-law #4030/71, and that same now be read a first
time.
Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor D. Quick,
moves that By-law Number 4178/72 to define and determine
the duties and responsibilities of the Township
Manager and to repeal By-law #4030/71 be now read a
second time, and that Council go into Committee of
the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the
By-law as read.
Deputy Reeve G. Ashe, seconded by Councillor K. Matheson,
moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on
By-law Number 4178/72 be adopted, and that the said
By-law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the
Reeve and Clerk sign the SMDe, and the Seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto.

ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Councillor Mrs. J. L. McPherson, seconded by
Councillor J. Anderson, that Council adjourn out of
the Council meeting to reconvene into Committee of
the Whole Council at 10:00 p.m.
