COUNCIL MEETING
A meeting of the Pickering Town Council
was held on MONDAY, JUNE 27TH 1977 at
7:40 p.m.
PRESENT:

(I)
RESOLUTIONS
Resolution
MOVED by Councillor Kitchen, seconded by Councillor
Robertson that
WHEREAS pursuant to Subsection 1 of Section 44 of The
Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, as amended,
where a vacancy occurs in the office of a member of
the Council of a local municipality the Council may
make an appointment to fill the vacancy;
AND WHEREAS a vacancy has occurred on the Council of
The Corporation of the Town of Pickering by virtue of
the resignation of Local Councillor Gerald Fisher on
the 20th day of June 1977, from the position of Local
Councillor, Ward 3;
BE IT THEREFORE RECOMMENDED that the vacancy created
be filled by an appointment.

A recorded vote was called and allowed after Item II
was called.

Moved by Councillor Matheson, seconded by Councillor
Cahill that the ruling of the Chair be challenged.

Resolution 121/77
MOVED by Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor
Cahill that
WHEREAS pursuant to Subsection (1) of Section 45, of The
Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, as amended, where
a vacancy occurs in the office of a member of the Council
of a Local Municipality, the Council may require an
election to be held to fill the vacancy;

AND WHEREAS a vacancy has occurred on the Council of The
Corporation of the Town of Pickering by virtue of the
resignation of Local Councillor Gerald Fisher on the 20th
day of June 1977, from the position of Local Councillor,
Ward 3;
BE IT THEREFORE RECOMMENDED that a by-law be passed
calling for an election to fill the vacancy created.

Resolution 122/77
MOVED by Councillor Matheson, seconded by Councillor
Fisher that a by-law be passed authorizing the Mayor
and Clerk to execute a Condominium Agreement between
the Town of Pickering and the Lincoln/Governor Group,
Inc. with respect to Part of Lot 28, Range 3, Broken
Front Concession, Town of Pickering.

BY-LAWS
By-law Number 644/77
Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor Fisher
moved for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to require the holding of an election to
fill the vacancy in the office of Local Councillor
in Ward 3 and that same be now read a first, second
and third time and that the same be now finally passed
and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and that
the Seal of the Corporation be thereto affixed.
CARRIED
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally
passed.
By-law Number 645/77
Councillor Matheson, seconded by Councillor Cahill
moved for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to authorize the execution of a Condominium
Agreement between the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering and The Lincoln/Governor Group, Inc. with
respect to part of Lot 28, Range 3, Broken Front
Concession, Town of Pickering and that same be now
read a first, second and third time and that the same
be now finally passed and that the Mayor and Clerk
sign the same and that the Seal of the Corporation be
thereto affixed.
CARRIED
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally
passed.

ADJOURNMENT
MOVED by Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor
Fisher that the meeting adjourn to Executive Committee
at 8:10 p.m.
