COUNCIL MEETING
A Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday,
January 29th 1979 at 7:36 P.M.
PRESENT:

Councillor Kitchen (away on business)
This Special Meeting of Council was called to enact by-laws
to adopt the 1979 budgets of the Town of Pickering and
provide the levy of the required rates and to cover the 1979
requisition of the Region of Durham.

BY-LAWS
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Geraghty moved
for leave to introduce By-laws of the Town of Pickering:
By-Law Number 951/79
Being a by-law to adopt the 1979 estimates of all sums
required during the year for the purposes of the Municipality
of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering, and to provide
for the levying of the rates resulting therefrom.
By-Law Number 952/79
Being a by-law to levy the rates necessary to cover the
estimated 1979 levy from the Council of the Corporation
of the Regional Municipality of Durham.
THIRD READING
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Geraghty moved
that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law
Numbers 951/79 and 952/79, be adopted, and that the said
By-laws be now read a Third Time and PASSED and that the
Mayor and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation
be affixed thereto.
CARRIED
By-laws read a first, second and third time and finally
passed.

CONFIRMATION BY-LAW
By-Law Number 953/79
Councillor Geraghty, seconded by Councillor Dickerson moved
for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of Pickering to
confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of
the Town of Pickering at its meeting held on the 29th day of
January 1979, and that same be now read a first, second and
third time and that the same be now finally passed and that
the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and that the Seal of the
Corporation be thereto affixed.
CARRIED
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed.

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at the hour of 7:39 P.M.

That the report of the Town Manager dated December
6, 1978 be received.

GRANT TO ORGANIZATIONS
AND INDIVIDUALS

That a gránt in the amount of $300.00 be made
to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind;
and that the said grant be charged to General
Account #2195.
3.
GRANT - GARBAGE COLLECTION
1210 BAYSHORE TOWERS, RADOM STREET

That the request of Con-Sec Limi~ed for garbage/
collection by the Town or a tax credit to offset
the cost of garbage collection by the condominium
corporation at 1210 Radom Street, be refused.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL SUBSIDIES

That the report of the Director of Public Works
dated January 2nd 1979, dealing with the prior-
ities of traffic signals subsidies be adopted
and forwarded to Mr. George Ashe, M.P.P. and
the Regional Traffic Department be advised of
the priorities cóntained therein.
