PRESENTATION
To Heather Margerison and Brenda Marjoram for receiving
the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Bronze Certificate and Badge.

DELEGATIONS
Mrs. Elizabeth Shumovich, representing the Rosebank
Ratepayers Association, was in attendance to
support the Rosebank Neighbourhood Plan as presented.
2.
Mr. John R. Williams, representing residents
on the north side of Bayly Street, east of Toy
Avenue, was in attendance to object to the des-
ignation proposed by the Brock Industrial Area
Community Plan on the properties of the residents
he is representing and request that the subject
properties be designated "Associated Industrial".
3.
Mr. Bruce Freeman of Bramalea Limited requested
that the second sentence of section 3(a) of the
Rosebank Neighbourhood Plan be deleted.

That pursuant to Section 5.2.3 of the Official Plan of
the Regional Municipality of Durham, the Brock Industrial
Area Development Plan is hereby adopted with the following
amendments:
1.
that a land designation change from "Light Indust-
rial" to "Associated Industrial" starting from
a point at the intersection of Bayly Street and
Toy Avenue and continuing north approximately
250 feet to a lot line and those properties front-
ing on the north side of Bayly Street between
Toy Avenue on the west and the railway spur line
on the east, be incorporated.

the amendments outlined in the memorandum of
the Planning Director dated January 17, 1979.

the Planning Director dated January 18, 1979.
the second sentence of section 3(a) is hereby
deleted.

That By-law 929/78 is in conformity with the Official Plan
of the Region of Durham and in force at the time this By-law
was passed, namely the 21st day of, December, 1978;
And that no further Official Plan has been proposed by
Council nor approved by the Ministry of Housing since passing
of said -By-law 929/78 in which the said By-law would not
be in conformity.

Whereas it is desirable to have the residents within the
Town of Pickering all listed in the appropriate telephone
directory under the name of Pickering, with dual listings
for residents within the West Hill and Markham exchanges;
and
Whereas a spokesperson for Bell Canada has indicated that
this is feasible;
Now therefore be it resolved that Bell Canada be requested
to implement this consideration under the name of Pickering
as soon as possible;
and that a copy of this request be forwarded to the Canadian
Radio and Television Commission.

that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law
Numbers 922/78, 923/78, 940/79, 941/79, 942/79, 943/79,
944/79, 945/79, 946/79, 947/79, 948/79 be adopted, and
that the said By-laws be now read a Third Time and PASSED
and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal
of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

1.
OTHER BUSINESS
Councillor Dickerson stated that uncollectible
taxes are referred to a collection agency and
not automatically written off.
2.
Councillor Cahill commented on the reports of
the Department Heads for the month of December,
1979, with particular stress on:
a)
the tonnage of garbage has substantially
increased
b)
the Treasurer be commended for reducing the
amount of tax arrears.
c)
that procedures for the issuance of building
permits be improved.
d)
the consultants for the Dunbarton, Highbush,
Woodlands Secondary Plan be urged to give
improved public presentations.

3.
Councillor Kitchen felt that commercial establish-
ments should be made aware that it is illegal
to shovel snow onto the road.

CONFIRMATION BY-LAW
By-law Number 949/79
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Geraghty moved
for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of Pickering
to confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation
of the Town of Pickering at its meeting held on the January
22nd, 1979, and that same be now read a first, second and
third time and that the same be now finally passed and
that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and that the Seal
of the Corporation be thereto affixed.
CARRIED

passed.
