SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, June
27, 1983 at 9:46 P.M.
Pursuant to By-law 3714 (Procedural By-law), this Special Meeting was
called to ratify the actions of the Exeuctive Committee at its meeting of
June 27, 1983.

BY-LAWS
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Stoner moved for leave to
introduce By-laws of the Town of Pickering:
By-law Number 1694/83
Being a by-law to authorize the execution of an Agreement with the
Corporation of the Town of Ajax respecting the continuation of the
Pickering-Ajax Rescue Unit.
By-law Number 1695/83
Being a by-law to authorize the execution of a Deed between the
Corporation of the Town of Pickering and Elsa Bocchinfaso respecting Part
Lot 12, Concession 5, Pickering.

THIRD READING
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Stoner moved that the report of
the Committee of the Whole on By-law Numbers 1694/83 and 1695/83 be
adopted, and that the said By-laws be now read a Third Time and Passed
and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto.
CARRIED
By-laws read a first, second and third time and finally passed.

The Exeuctive Committee of the Town of Pickering having met June 27,
1983 presents its twelfth report to the Council of the Town of
Pickering and recommends:
1.
AMENDMENT TO MINISTER'S ZONING
ORDER BY J. SPEEDIE ON THE
SOUTHEAST CORNER OF WESTNEY
ROAD AND CONCESSION 6 ROAD

That application M6/83, submitted by Mr. John Speedie
for a minor variance to the provisions of Minister's
Zoning Order No.1 on lands being Part Lot 10,
Concession 5 to permit the construction of an
attached garage that will provide a 1.0 metre yard be
APPROVED.

PROPOSED NURSERY SCHOOL
AT WEST SHORE COMMUNITY
CENTRE

That the report of the Town Manager dated June 21st
1983 be adopted;
and that the Municipality agree to the leasing of the
West Shore Community Centre to the Gingerbread
Co-operative Nursery School (Inc.) from September 1,
1983 to June 30, 1984 in order to operate as-day
3-hours per day nursery school;
and that the rent be calculated on the basis of
$10.00 per month for each child for which the school
is licenced by the Province.

STORM DRAINAGE EASEMENT
ON REAR OF LOTS ON
HILLCREST ROAD

That the storm drainage easement at the rear of Lot
69, Plan M-20 also known as 816 Hillcrest Road be
reduced in size from 3.66 metres to 2.2 metres in
order to allow the construction of a proposed deck;
and that all legal, survey and registration costs be
assumed by the landowner.
CO-OPERATIVE TENDER FOR
SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF
SODI UM CHLORIDE.

That Co-operative Tender WD 34-83 submitted by Ariss
Haulage Limited for the delivery of sodium chloride
in the amount of $1.40 per tonne (Oshawa dock) and
$2.30 per tonne (Unwin Avenue dock, Toronto) and by
the Canadian Salt Company Limited for the supply of
sodium chloride in the amount of $26.01 per tonne be
approved subject to the approval of the Ministry of
Trasnsporation and Communications.
CANCELLATION, REDUCTION
AND REFUND OF TAXES

Whereas Section 496 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O., 1980.,
transfers and responsibility for the hearing of the
applications for cancellation, reduction or refund of taxes
to the Council of the Municipality;
AND WHEREAS notices in writing of applications have been
received by the Clerk of the Municipality for the
cancellation, reduction and refund of taxes for various
reasons;
AND WHEREAS upon investigation and receipt of reasonable
explanations all claims have been substantiated;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of
Pickering accept the following list of applications and
authorize the adjustment of taxes in the amount of $6,412.53.
