Whereas Section 496 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.,
1980, transfers the responsibility for the
hearing of the applications for cancellation,
reduction or refund of taxes to the Council
of the Municipality;
AND WHEREAS notices in writing of applications

ment of taxes in the amount of $4,621.76

and Mr. Walter Thorn, the Council allowed for
work to commence immediately on the proposed driv-

CONFIRMATION BY-LAW
By-law Number 1648/83
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Stoner moved
for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of Pickering
to confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation
of the Town of Pickering at its meeting held on the April
5, 1983, and that same be now read a first, second and
third time and that the same be now finally passed and
that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and that the Seal
of the Corporation be thereto affixed.
CARRIED

passed.

Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Stoner moved
for leave 'to introdUce By-laws "ot the Tõwh of PicKering:
By-law Number 1641/83
Being a by-law to amend By-law 911/78 designating certain high-
ways within the Town of Pickering as through highways.
By-law Number 1642/83
Being a by-law to amend By-law 506/76 to provide for the erection
of "Stop" signs at certain intersections within the Town of
Pickering.
By-law Number 1643/83
Being a by-law to designate pedestrian crossovers for the pur-
poses of the Highway Traffic Act.
By-law Number 1644/83
Being a by-law to amend By-law 1311/81, authorizing the con-
struction of roadways, storm sewers and a watecourse system
as local improvements under the provisions of sections 7, 11
and 68 of the Local Improvements Act.
By-law Number 1645/83
Being a by-law to authorize the execution of a Collective Agree-'
ment between the Corporation of the Town of Pickering and The
Town of Pickering Professional Firefighters' Association, Local
1632, International Association of Firefighters.
By-law Number 1646/83
~ Being a by-law to repeal by-law 1633/83 exempting Blocks 2,
~ 3,4, 5, 6, 11, ~, ~, D( and ~, Plan 40M-1254, from part
lot control.

Being a by-law to exempt Blocks 2, 3,4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14

THIRD READING
Councillor Cahill, seconded by Councillor Stoner moved
that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law
Numbers 1641/83, 1642/83, 1643/83, 1644/83, 1645/83, 1646/83
and 1647/83 be adopted, and that the said By-laws be now
read a Third Time and PASSED and that the Mayor and Clerk
sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto.

By-laws read a first, second and third time and finally
passed.

1.
OTHER BUSINESS
Councillor Stoner reminded Members of Council and
the press that a symposium on abused women was being
held at the Rouge Hills Library this evening.
2.
The following matters were discussed prior to the
regular meeting:
a)
The following resolution was passed with respect
to the sale of the Manville Street building at
875 Dillingham Road to Howard Master Co. Ltd.:

That the Corporation of the Town of Pickering
hereby waives its first right of refusal to pur-
chase lands owned by Manville Road Steel Warehous-
ing Limited, 875 Dillingham Road, in Part of Lot
19, Range 3 more particularly described as Parts
1 and 2 on Reference Plan 40R-809.

b)
The Town Manager recommended, and the Council
concurred with certain dispositions with respect
to industrial penalties owing by Willowridge Con-
struction, Robert Braun Construction, Jack Jacobsen
Bostwick extension and Bramalea Limited.
c)
The Council asked that the Woodlands Community
Plan be reviewed by staff particularly as it af-
fects the Highway #401 and Kingston Road corridor.
