COUNCIL MINUTES
A Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, March
3, 1986 at 7:30 p.m.

I (I) ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Meeting of February 17, 1986.
(II) RESOLUTIONS

That the Executive Committee Report dated February 24, 1986, be
adopted.

That the request from the Massey's Men's Slo-Pitch Organization to
conduct a Beerfest in Kinsmen Park on June 6, 7 and 8, 1986
(alternative rain date of June 13 and 14, 1986) in conjunction
with a Men's Slo-Pitch Tournament be approved subject to approval
from local Health and Police authorities and the Liquor License
Board of Ontario.

Act, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering here-
by requests an allocation of subsidy funds for 1985 public trans-
portation as follows:

That the Council of the Town of Pickering petition the Minister of
Transportation and Communications for a supplementary allocation
of subsidy moneys in the amount of $200,000 for the reconstruction
of the Linton Bridge on Concession 8 Road in Lot 10.

That Mayor Anderson be authorized to proclaim the month of March,
1986 as "Kidney Month" in the Town of Pickering.

That Councillor Brenner be authorized to discuss the feasibility
of establishing a long range program of multiculturalism and race
relations in the Town of Pickering with the Social Planning
Council;
and that a report be forwarded to Town Council on the recommend-
ation of the Social Planning Council prior to meeting with the
Human Rights Commission-Race Relations Division.

(III) BY-LAWS
Councillor Arthurs, seconded by Councillor Stoner moved for leave
to introduce By-laws of the Town of Pickering:
By-law Number 2162/86
Being a by-law to authorize the execution of a Development Agree-
ment respecting Part Lot 30, Range 3, B.F.C., Pickering - Part 1,
Plan 40R-4825 (Vorelco Ltd/; A7/85).
By-law Number 2163/86
Being a by-law to authorize the sale of those parts of Lot 30,
Range 3, B.F.C., Pickering, designated as Parts 3, 4 and 5, Plan
40R-2206 to the abutting owner.
By-law Number 2164/86
Being a by-law to exempt Lots 97, 98 and 99, Plan 40M-1333,
Pickering, from part lot control.
By-law Number 2165/86
Being a by-law to dedicate part of Part Lot 11, Plan 820,
Pickering as a public highway (Part 3, Plan 40R-9255; Fairport
Road).
By-law Number 2166/86
Being a by-law respecting remuneration for Members of Council.

THIRD READING
Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor Arthurs moved that
the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-law Numbers
2162/86, 2163/86, 2164/86, 2165/86 and 2166/86 be adopted, and
that the said By-laws be now read a Third Time and PASSED, and
that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto.

(IV) OTHER BUSINESS
1. Councillor Stoner requested that surveys be conducted
and a report prepared with respect to warrants for
crosswalks.
2. Councillor Stoner requested a report of the feasibility
of providing free transit for the handicapped and the
effect on subsidies.
3. Councillor Brenner asked that the Canadian flag at the
monument at Altona Road and Sheppard Avenue be replaced.
4. Councillor Brenner asked that an identification sign be
installed at the Town border on Twyn Rivers Drive.
5. Councillor Robertson inquired into the feasibility of
installing no parking signs on Liverpool Road, south of
the bridge.
6. Councillor Stoner and Arthurs inquired into the status
of the 4-way stop signs at Rosefield Road and Fieldlight
Boulevard.
7. Councillor Arthurs asked that the sign with a telephone
number on the J.D.S. apartments be removed.
(V) CONFIRMATION BY-LAW
By-law Number 2167/86
Councillor Stoner, seconded by Councillor Robertson moved for
leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of Pickering to confirm
the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering at its meeting held on March 3, 1986 and that same be
now read a first, second and third time and that the same be now
finally passed and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and that
the Seal of the Corporation be thereto affixed.

That Mayor Anderson be authorized to proclaim the month
of May as "Multiple Sclerosis Carnation Month" and
