CHERRYWOOD WATER

That in order to enhance municipal water for Cherrywood
residents in 1989, the Town of Pickering hereby agrees to absorb
the first year's interest on the Regional portion of the capital
cost on behalf of the Regional Municipality of Durham; and
Further that the Town of Pickering requests the Minister of the
Environment to extend its cut-off date for this project funding
for 90 days; and
.
Further that the Town of Pi ckeri ng hereby requests the Durham
Regional Works Committee to reconsider the Cherrywood ~1unicipal
Water Project and that they consider absorbing two year's
interest and reconmend to Regional Council the calling for, and
awarding of, tenders for this project within 90 days.

SILTING PROBLEM IN
FRENCHMAN'S BAY

Whereas there is an accelerated problem of silting and
environmental damage occurring in Frenchman's Bay alleged to be
as a resul t of the cons tructi on of a dam or berm a 1 teri ng the
natural flow of water to and in the Bay;
.
Now Therefore the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pi ckeri ng hereby requests the Metropol i tan Toronto and Regi on
Conservation Authority to investigate this problem and take
whatever measures are necessary to alleviate the damage to
Frenchman's Bay;
and further that the t1i ni stry of Natural Resources and/or any
other jurisdictional authority be requested to undertake a
complete environmental study to study the originating source of
si 1 ti ng and recommend a pl an of acti on to preserve Frenchman I s
Bay for all citizens to enjoy in the future;
and that the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation
Authority be requested to arrange a meeting with the appropriate
1 evel s of government and Members of Counci 1 to di scuss thi s
matter further.

adopted and the said By-laws be now read a Third Time and
PASSED, and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal

Councillor Brenner stated that the Campaign Against
Poverty will be in Pickering on April 6.
Councillor Johnson stated that Town employees will
kick off the municipal campaign for the Ajax/Pickering
Hospital Fund this week.
Counci 11 or Johnson stated that the Kevi n Shore
Memorial will be held at the Metro East Trade Centre.
Counci 11 or Morgan stated that she is recei vi ng many
ca 11 s from resi dents who are requi red to pay $20 to
dump garbage at the Brock West Landfill Site if it is
overweight and wants this matter investigated.

leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of Pickering to confirm
the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering at its meeting held on the 3rd day of April, 1989 and
that the same be now read a first, second and third time and
that the same be now finally passed and that the Mayor and Clerk
sign the same and that the Seal of the Corporation be thereto
affixed.
