Councillor Ryan advised that, as Council Liaison with the Durham Regional Police, he was in attendance at a meeting, the morning of October 10, 2001, at which discussion took place concerning the terrorist attack on New York City and any possible incidents within Durham. The Police advised that there has been no increase in graffiti or racial incidents. They further advised that uniformed police have been placed at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station to provide increased security. Councillor Ryan also advised that the Durham Regional Police are undertaking an initiative to organize a Race Relations Communications Group. Councillor Ryan commented on the Candlelight Vigil held on the grounds of the Civic Complex to recognize the Terrorist Attack on the United States, the lives lost and those who lost family and friends. He advised of its great success and that approximately 1,100 were in attendance. Councillor Ryan and Fred Gibson commented on the great success of the 21st Annual Pickering Carib Canadian Cultural Association dance held at the Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 6th, 2001. Matthew Carmichael was prepared to discuss the video project. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. U ii.
