<br />".- <br /> <br />THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PICKERING <br />BY-LAW NO. 6702/06 <br /> <br />Being a by-law to license, regulate and govern taxicab businesses <br />within the City of Pickering <br /> <br />WHEREAS section 150 of the Municipal Act, 2001 provides that a local municipality <br />may license, regulate and govern any business wholly q.r partly carried on within the <br />municipality; <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS the City of Pickering wishes to license, regulate and govern taxicab <br />businesses within the City. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Corporation of the City <br />of Pickering enacts as follows: <br /> <br />PART I-INTERPRETATION <br /> <br />",-. <br /> <br />Definitions <br /> <br />1 In this by-law, <br /> <br />"accessible taxicab" has the same meaning as in section 1 of Ontario <br />Regulation 629; <br /> <br />"accessible taxicab plate license" means a license issued by the City to permit <br />the operation of a specific vehicle as an accessible taxicab; <br /> <br />"accessible taxicab plate licensee" means a person to whom an accessible <br />taxicab plate license has been issued; <br /> <br />"affiliated" means under contract to provide dispatch services and "affiliation" <br />has a corresponding meaning; <br /> <br />"applicant" means a person applying for a license or a renewal of a license and <br />"application" has a corresponding meaning; <br /> <br />"authorized vehicle inspection station" means a place designated by the City <br />to conduct vehicle safety inspections; <br /> <br />"broker" means any person who carries on the business of accepting orders for, <br />.~ or dispatching in any manner to, two or more licensed taxicabs and "brokerage" <br />has a corresponding meaning; <br />
