We Stan Frost Jim Pownall felt that "The Bulletin" sounded too Tom McKay Ann Henson much like an office memo, and we liked "Fairway" best among the many suggestions received, because it SEWER PLAN CHANGED brings to mind a picture of the chief physical characteristic of West Rouge. i Sweeping changes in the plans for Our thanks to Mr. Butcher of Rouge I sewers in Nest Rouge were announced Hills Dr. for his suggestion. 11Sy Council last week. WATER RATES REDUCED A $20,000 saving in the estimated cos. of the new water tower has made it possible for Council to announce a --eduction of the water rates, vThich w1,1 mean a saving of at least 10 pe: year to the average householder. Before you start to cheer we siruld tell you that increases in bo'h Public and High School mill rates will probably more than offset th.s saving. MAIL BOX DEADLINE -- MAY 1 Ccancil has decreed that any of the O;d rural mail boxes still standing aster May 1 will be "ploughed under". Tae Roads Superintendent has pointed ou; that they hamper snow removal aDd the clearing of ditches. Preliminary engineering has been done, but no detailed estimate of costs is yet available. It would appear, however, that there should be considerable savings in this plan. The developer is paying for the sewage plant at Frenchman's Bay and the cost of the long pipe line will be largely offset by the frontage charges on the route that it follows. The development of potential industrial and residential ,land east of the Rouge would be a6siired, to the benefit of the 1whole township. Reeve Scott hopes lto have further details and cost !!estimates ready to present to us on (Wednesday evening. The matter of Post Office boxes was quickly covered as President Bob "AROUND TOWN" with Pierre Tumpane The artificial ice surface idea has caught fire in our area. The vote was 44 "YES" and 19 "NO" Of course this resolution to date has oly given the Executive the grEen light to proceed with further study and has not committed the community to spend two cents. The question of sewers was raised next. It was a pleasure to see that quite a few had brought along the last issue of our paper for reference. Reeve Scott thought that it would be close to a full before thesear after stemfirst would sod is turned Y be in operation. The homeowner mould be consulted as to where he wanted his front lawn dug up. Sump pumps may be connected to thn system, but eavestroughs may NOT. Didn't we read in the paper that a culvert steamier was purchased recen— tly by the township? If they did, it is about time they uncrated it and got it fired up and in use. There will be a few soggy cellars soon if they don't. A reader took issue with purs truly in last month' s issue over the cost of electricity used in Christmas decorations. If you consider that one killowatt of juice costs you 1.1y and each coloured outside type bulb is rated at 10 watts, then 50 bulbs burning for 1 hour costs slightly more than half of i cent. Therefore (if my slide rule is working) 5 hours per night for 7 nights for 3 weeks would cost approximately 60y.
