HYMN: 669 "All people that on earth do dwell" Old Hundredth
PRAYERS. INVOCATION
Almighty God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and
from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the
inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily
magnify thy holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
GENERAL CONFESSION AND PRAYER FOR PARDON
Minister and People —Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred and
strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the
devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy
holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have
done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done;
And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
miserable offenders. Spare thou them, O God, which confess their
faults. Restore thou them that are penitent; According to thy promises
declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most
merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly,
righteous and sober life, To the glory of thy holy name. Amen.
Minister-0 Cod, whose nature and property is ever to have mercy and to
forgive, receive our humble petitions; and though we be tied and
bound with the chain of our sins, yet let the pitifulness of thy great
mercy loose us; for the honour of Jesus Christ, our Mediator and
Advocate. Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy Kingdom
come; Thy will be done; In earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass
against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYERS:
THANKSGIVING
Worthy art thou, O gracious God, of all glory and honour, for that
thou of thine unspeakable love didst give thy dearly beloved Son for the life
of the world; and in him didst create the blessed Fellowship and Church
of thy redeemed; into which thou hast called us, and made'us partakers of
thy heavenly grace.
O thou, who hast willed that thy people be one in the fellowship of thy
Son, we thank thee for the gift of Union which thou hast bestowed upon us,
and for the communion with one another in thee into which thou hast brought
us; and we bless thee for the great things of thy grace our eyes have seen, and
the unspeakable things of thy love our hearts have learned and known.
We praise thee for our Christian fellowship in this and other lands;
for our ministers and missionaries; for our scholars and leaders; for our men
of strength, and women of devotion; for our young men and maidens, and
for our little children. And we rejoice in the prayers of thy saints, in the
gifts of the faithful, in the service of holy and humble men of heart.
Forgive us we beseech thee for the things in which we have forgotten
thee, and disregarded thee. Forgive our willfulness and lack of faith. In thy
great mercy fulfill to us thine exceeding great and precious promises for days
to come. Pour out thy grace upon us and upon thy whole Church, that all
who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ may be enriched with his
Spirit, and be enabled for mightier works of mercy in His name; that the
hearts of all men everywhere may be drawn to thy dear Son.
FOR THE CHURCH
O' Almighty God, who hast built thy Church upon the foundation of
the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the head corner stone:
Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their doctrine, that we
may be made an holy temple acceptable unto thee; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
FOR MINISTERS AND PEOPLE
Almighty and everlasting God, who alone workest great marvels: Send
down upon thy Ministers and all Congregations committed to their charge,
the healthful spirit of thy grace; and that they may truly please thee pour
upon them the continual dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the
honour of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
FOR THE KING AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY
Almighty God, the fountain of all goodness, we humbly beseech thee
to bless our Sovereign Lord, King George, the members of his family, the
Parliament in all his dominions, and all who are set in authority under him;
that they may order all things in wisdom, righteousness, and peace, to the
honour of thy holy name, and the good of thy Church and people; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
FOR THE DOMINION OF CANADA
Almighty God, who didst lead our fathers into this land, and set their
feet in a large room: Give thy grace, we beseech thee, to us their children,
that we may approve ourselves a people mindful of thy favour, and glad to
do thy will. Bless our Dominion with honourable industry, sound learning,
and pure manners; Save us from lawlessness and discord, pride and arrogance,
and fashion into one godly people the multitude brought hither out of many
kindreds and tongues. Give to all the spirit of service, love, and mutual for-
bearance. In properity make us thankful unto thee, and in the day of trouble
suffer not our trust in thee to fail. So that, loving thee above all things, we
may fulfil thy gracious purpose in this land; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
FOR ALL PEOPLES
O Thou who art the light of the world, the desire of all nations, and
the shepherd of our souls: Let thy light shine in the darkness, that all the
ends of the earth may see the salvation of our God; by the lifting up of thy
cross gather the peoples to thine obedience, to whom alone belongeth the
sceptre and the crown; let thy sheep hear thy voice and be brought home to
thy fold; so that there may be one flock, one Shepherd; one holy Kingdom of
righteousness and peace; one God and Father of us all, above all, and through
all, and in all. Amen.
COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL
Eternal God, Creator and Lover of all men, before whom stand the
spirits of the living and the dead; we praise thee for all those who have kept
the faith and witnessed a good confesssion, upholding truth and resisting evil
unto the uttermost and labouring for liberty, justice and brotherhood. Grant,
O Lord, that their devotion may bring forth good fruit in us and in the
generations that come after us, that we leave not unfinished their work begun
in thee.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all
that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us; unto him
be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus, throughout all ages, world without
end. Amen.
