This is in response to yo it letter written on i,iay 2, which ap,�ears
to have been delayed by the dislocation of Her kajesty's Mail Service.
I ap-reciated hearing front you, and _I ave given considerable thought
and at .ention to the matters raised in it....
At the rnnmment 1 can :ot make a firm com::itmen:; regardix.g the
extension of y cur appointment to the end of August.. I am, however,
in contact 1 ith the-eersonel Branch of the Mikjistry , have made a
request that your ap Dointmerit be exs,ended on the basis of four days
per creek, until that time, and I will. let rou know as soon as I
have a commitment.. -:ven if the four day apUointment is denied, I have
strong hopes that we can continue it on the basis of three days ,per
week until the end of August.. jince we have offered summer
employment to your son at the Hawkestone shop, and I understand he has
accepted, I can apl)reciate it would be more convenient for both of
you to be able to share transportation.. We vril] advise as soon as
possible.
I note also that it is your intention to discontinue ,rour association
with the Ontario agricultural 14useum at the end of August.. I am sorry
things have not worked out as hoped, and I wish you the very best in your
future undertakings.. If 1 can be of any help to you in this regard,please
do not hesitate to contact me..
Re the Upper Canada Village Position, 1 am attaching q photocopy of
an advertisement which appeared in last creek's Globe and Mail.. It would
appear the St.Lawrence Parks Commission is having a great deal of difficulty
filling this )osition, for the; have now established a new deadline for
ap,lications, May 31,1977), and have opened the competition to those
outgide of the Civil Service.. It would not hurt to give them another
"n0ge".. While they prefer a College degree, the advertisement says " or
an acceptable equivalent of Education and Experience.."..

detailed research program in the agricultural and
horticultural practices of Upper Canada 1784-186'- Duties:
responsible for the agricultural and horticultural collection;
create and develop on ongoing interpretive progra.n; direct
the operation of a living historical farm, garO ris and
associated farm life activities of Upper Canada Village.
Location: Upper Canada Village, 7 miles east of Mor-?sburg.
Qualifications: graduation from a university. of re ognized
standing or an acceptable equivalent of educa-on and
experience; several years progressively responsible
experience In the museum or a directly relatc-d field.-
iWependent judgment proven administrative ability;
personal suitability.
