Jason Liebregts / Metroland PICKERING — Alex Harold has muscular dystrophy and is a longtime fundraiser for the annual Walk For Muscular Dystrophy. Pickering man defies odds while living with MD Kristen Calis KCalis@durhamregion.com DURHAM — Alex Harold has defied the odds that were given to him when he was just a little boy diagnosed with Duchenne muscu- lar dystrophy. His parents were originally told their son would be lucky to live to 20; but the young Pickering man is now 24, and continues to chip away at his degree in accounting at the University of Toronto Scarborough. A lot of the strides in the treatment for this disorder have been thanks to the funds raised for Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) over the years. Two rescue child from intentional drowning in Ajax Keith Gilligan KGilligan@durhamregion.com DURHAM — A young boy is still alive because of the actions of Carolyn O’Leary and Ryan Howard, while Meghan Kelle- her and four others helped bring back a man from the dead. Durham Regional Police honoured 22 people who came to the aid of fellow citi- zens over the past year. The awards were handed out in the council chamber of the Durham Regional headquarters on Wednesday, May 10. O’Leary and Howard rescued a small boy from a woman trying to drown him in Duffins Creek in Ajax. O’Leary was walking along the Ajax waterfront when she came upon a woman with a small child crying on the bridge over Duffins Creek. She knew something wasn’t right, so she stayed nearby. O’Leary heard Howard, who was jog- ging in the area, calling for help. He found the woman holding the boy’s head under water. They took the boy from the water and gave him first aid. When asked if she considered herself a hero, O’Leary said, “I think anybody would do the same thing.” “Right place at the right time,” is how Howard describes their efforts. “Five min- utes either way and it’s a different end- ing.” “We just happen to be in the right place,” O’Leary said. “I don’t know if you could call it the right place or the wrong time.” “They ensured this day did not end in tragedy,” said Sgt. Emmy Iheme, the mas- ter of ceremonies. In another incident, Kelleher, Eric Noyes, Meredith Yoemans, Graham Beach and Jon Lorenzo came to the aid of a man who had collapsed while exercising at the Body Fit Health Club in Port Perry. Kelleher worked at the club and was on the job when she came upon the man lying on the floor with no vital signs. She began CPR right away, and others came to assist and called 911. Noyes, another employee at the club, retrieved a defibril- lator and, together, they applied the pads and shocked the man and saved his life. Kelleher said her actions were “just something you do as a human.” Having first-aid training is a require- ment of her job, she noted. She was “absolutely” nervous. “I was frozen when I got to the body,” Kelleher noted. “Everyone was in the right place at the right time. I was the closest to the body. A member of the gym came and helped me. He was heroic.” The man survived but, unfortunately, died about a month ago. “He got an extra year with his family,” Kelleher said. Karl Paterson, Kostaki Papakonstanti- nou, Gary McMillan, Andrew Wilson and Conner Gibson came to the aid of a boy who was skiing at Lakeridge Ski Resort. The boy, from a school in Toronto, lost a ski and was stuck under the chairlift bar. Kostaki, 8, held onto the boy until help arrived. The others were on the ground and deployed a catch net to safely bring the incident to an end. Kostaki was seven at the time. When asked if he was scared, he said, “Yeah. He could have gotten really hurt.” The boy is a friend of Kostaki. Others receiving awards were Crys- tal and Martin Manning. They were at home and saw a snowmobiler go through the ice on Lake Scugog. They called 911 and then went to help the snowmobiler. They threw a rope to him and pulled him to shore, then took him to their home and helped him until EMS arrived. In Oshawa, Mike Mozar and Victor Wesley heard a woman scream after a man grabbed her purse and fled. The two men saw the thief running in their direc- tion and chased after him; he dropped the woman’s purse and his hat as he jumped a fence. The two men walked the distraught victim to her apartment so she would feel safe until police arrived. Also in Oshawa, Greg Hearn, Chris- tine Gardner, Herman Grewal, Michael McNeil and Alan Drisdelle helped wres- tle a man armed with a sawed-off shotgun to the ground and take away the gun. The man was arguing with a group of people when he pulled out the gun. He was held until the police arrived. Hope Currell was on her way home from work when she heard screams for help and came upon an Ajax home on fire. She tried to enter the house, but was forced back by smoke and heat. Currell located the family cat and comforted two people who had escaped. “Thank you for coming forward and taking action,” Iheme said to all award recipients. Regional Chairman Roger Anderson said, “Every year, we’re amazed at how involved our citizens are. People from all over the region are prepared to be involved.” Page 6 - Today’s editorial Durham honours hero citizens who went above and beyond Ron Pietroniro / Metroland WHITBY -- Ryan Howard and Carolyn O’Leary posed for a photo at the Durham Regional Police citizens award ceremony. Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of genetic muscle disorders that are char- acterized by progressive weakness and wasting of voluntary muscles that control body movement, causing a loss of abilities and a shortened life expectancy. The 10th annual Durham Region Walk for Muscular Dystrophy is set for Sunday, May 28 at Heydenshore Park, 589 Water St., Whitby. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the walk takes place at 11 a.m. Alex explains the walk is a rather casu- al event that has routes mapped out for both one kilometre and five kilometre dis- tances, and people can sign up in advance or even on the day of. His strength has decreased over the years, and Alex him- self, who uses a wheelchair, only does what he can. “Nobody pushes,” assured his mother, Janice Harold, chair of the walk’s organiz- ing committee. The walk also has food, prizes, speak- ers, as well as resources available to those who want to learn more about MDC — which will receive the walk’s proceeds, and supports people affected by MD and related muscle diseases. “Anything you need, they’re willing to help you,” said Alex. He also said that if you want to be left alone, that’s fine, too. Being diagnosed with MD is difficult, and a lot of the time, people are unsure of what to expect of the disorder and of attending the annual walk. “I was scared to death,” Alex said of his first walk. “I didn’t want to go.” But, he went, and while he just wanted to be left alone — which he found out he could do if he chose to — he met others he could relate to. “We’re all really in a similar boat with having this progressive disorder,” he said. “We’re all working toward the same thing.” He learned about the resources avail- able to him, and eventually learned he could help others who were diagnosed with the same disorder he was all those years ago. In fact, he’s become a positive role model and a spokesperson for MDC. “They see the hope for their child,” Jan- ice said of the parents of young children with MD who got to meet Alex. Now, the walk has become a big part in Alex’s life, as well as for his family and friends. Ultimately, MDC wants to see a cure. But, until then, the money raised helps those with the disorder live better lives by funding equipment and advocating for them. This year, MDC has increased its grant funding. Its Seed Grant program will provide a total of $250,000 to support research projects that receive excellent evaluations through the peer review pro- cess. Its intent is to solicit research pro- posals related to neuromuscular diseas- es — specifically, proposals that are not entirely focused on a single disorder, but are relevant to several of the 150-plus dis- orders covered by MD Canada. “It’s exciting to see we’re raising the money and they’re awarding these research grants,” said Alex. And there has been some progress made toward finding a cure. “It’s a very exciting time for all muscu- lar dystrophy,” Janice said. Alex himself remains hopeful that he — or at least the little boys and girls who were just diagnosed — will benefit from the advancements being made. “I think you can’t not have hope, that maybe all this fundraising was worth it,” he said. So far, the Durham walk has raised nearly $150,000, with Team Alex raising around $70,000. To learn more about the walk, to donate or for more on MD, visit www.muscle.ca. Publication Sales Agreement #40052657 our opinionour opinionour opinion column When I chose to go to college instead of university, I heard it all: “Why select a sec- ond-class education?” or “You won’t find a job with just a college diploma.” I was never anti-university, but I sure had to fight the perceptions of others when it came to choosing a college education in 1986. Math never quite added up for me and I had no chemistry with science. I loved Eng- lish, and decided to pursue public relations. Durham College was the right fit for me. I liked the size of the school and the cur- riculum. I wanted an education that would hone my practical skills to help me secure a job ASAP to pay off student loans. During the two-year program, we worked on a school newsletter, organized events, and made a difference in our community by volunteering our communications skills. I enjoyed diverse courses like law, writing, psychology, and photography. We also had lots of fun between classes. My two favourite bars, Illusions and Sammy’s, are both closed now but won’t be forgotten. Upon graduating in 1988, my plan worked — I immediately landed a position at a PR agency in Toronto. The managing director was a friend of my PR professor, Ev McCrimmon, who recommended me for the job. Since then, I have also held pro- gressive positions with the Retail Council of Canada, The Dynacare Health Group, Por- ter Novelli — one of the world’s largest PR firms — and I also ran my own consultancy. I now hold a global marketing position with KPMG. According to a recent study by the Orga- nization for Economic Cooperation and Development, more Canadian adults have a post-secondary education than any other country in the developed world, largely because of our robust system of community colleges. College diplomas don’t mean less pay or fewer job opportunities. Parents should not pressure their kids to go to university if it is not their preferred style of learning. Instead, encourage the right match. My teenager is leaning toward university but only after we reviewed college options and determined that earning his degree first was the right choice for him. As Durham College celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017, I look forward to con- necting with other graduates and hearing about their journeys after receiving a first- class education. DC’s Homecoming Week- end on Sept. 8 and 9 will be a great opportu- nity to do just that — I hope to see many of my fellow alumni there! -- Sheila Corriveau is Head of Global Marketing Operations, Program Delivery and People Leader at KPMG International and a 1988 graduate of Durham College’s Public Relations program College provides a first-class education Sheila corriveau Guest columnist letter to the editor Tuition increases in Ontario a constant worry for many students To the editor: As the weather becomes nicer, the thought of summer is in just about every person’s mind. However, for senior high school students, there is another thought rolling through their minds: post-secondary education. By now, these institutions will have sent out acceptance offers, for which every student waits patiently day and night. Nevertheless, just as quickly as their joy came, it will be vanished by one thought — money. Post-secondary institutions are raising tuition fees to enormous amounts every year and this is making it harder for students to pay. In the last decade, university tuition fees have risen almost 41 per cent. Fifty-one per cent of Canadians stated they will need financial help to be able to pay for their schooling.   Post-secondary tuition fees are a con- stant thought in just about every teenag- er’s mind. In fact, Ontario has the highest tuition fees in all of Canada. Why should someone be limited to their choice school just because they cannot pay the outrageous tuition fees? We need to look at this problem and realize that we are the next generation, and if our generation cannot afford school- ing, there is going to be a serious problem.   Alyssa Smith Whitby Agree? Send us a letter to the editor, max. 200 words. newsroom@durhamregion.com There can be no greater community good than helping a fellow citizen in their time of need for no other reason than doing the right thing. These individuals are called heroes, and their heroism was recognized and honoured at a recent ceremony at Dur- ham Regional Headquarters earlier this month. Durham regional police honoured 22 of these selfless individuals who came to the aid of fellow citizens over the past year. To hear these citizens speak of their individual acts of heroism, one would believe it wasn’t a big deal when their interventions proved to be the difference between life and death. But, it’s almost a certainty that had these citizens chosen to look the other way, a tragedy most cer- tainly would have occurred. Carolyn O’Leary and Ryan Howard came to the rescue of a small boy, taking him away from a woman who was hold- ing his head under water in an attempt- ed drowning in Duffins Creek in Ajax. O’Leary heard Howard’s call for help and they both took the boy and administered first aid. When asked if she considered herself a hero, O’Leary said, “I think anybody would do the same thing.” “Right place at the right time,” is how Howard describes their efforts. “Five min- utes either way and it’s a different ending.” In another incident, Kelleher, Eric Noyes, Meredith Yoemans, Graham Beach and Jon Lorenzo came to the aid of a man who had collapsed while exercising at the Body Fit Health Club in Port Perry. Kelle- her worked at the club and was on the job when she came upon the man lying on the floor with no vital signs. She began CPR right away, and others came to assist and called 911. Noyes, another employ- ee at the club, retrieved a defibrillator and, together, they applied the pads and shocked the man and saved his life. Kelleher said her actions were “just something you do as a human.” Durham regional chair Roger Ander- son summed up these acts of heroism by saying, “Every year, we’re amazed at how involved our citizens are. People from all over the region are prepared to be involved.” As a community, we offer heartfelt thanks and admiration to every one of these heroes who set aside their own per- sonal fears to affect a positive outcome in every one of these incidents that most cer- tainly could have turned tragic. It was followed in 1930 and beyond by the Great Depression as companies laid off thousands of workers and many shut down. Unemployment rose to a record 25 per cent and, in a time when there was no social safety net, people struggled to make ends meet. Only the outbreak of war in 1939-40 and the need for war supplies brought employment and industry back. Win Letters to the editor In Case ’13 Reasons Why’ has you thinking suicide might be OK To the editor: Re: ‘Is your teen watching 13 Reasons Why?: Durham school board has message for parents’, news, May 4 I don’t know this Netflix series. But I can offer “1,946 Reasons Why Not” ... the number of days we’ve had to face without our beloved son, who chose suicide. Not one second of one day goes by that we don’t miss him intensely, and wonder what might have been had he chosen life. Actors do not really die, but in real life, sui- cide is the tragic, untimely, and real end of a life. Should the show 13 Reasons Why leave a thought in your mind that suicide is the only, or any, option; it isn’t. It cannot be undone. You might be in tough. Things might seem bleak and unbearable right now. They can. Life has so many ups and downs. Suicide will multiply your pain and spread it among those who love you. Please do not be seduced by anything which makes this look like a pos- sible decision at all. It is not a choice ... ever, no matter what. Instead, talk to your parents, a pastor, a guidance counsellor; text a friend; call a suicide hotline (there is also a Kids Help Phone app, and live chat online); go for a run; smash a wall ... do NOT take your own life. Where there is breath, there is hope. Things won’t always seem as awful as they do right now. Honest. You matter and your life is precious, even when you don’t feel or believe it. CHOOSE TO LIVE ... because living without you will be incredibly painful for your friends and fami- ly. To parents: If we knew then what we know now, there would be a list of numbers, web- sites, and apps on our refrigerator, whether we had a worry about suicide or not. Cheryl French Uxbridge Editor’s note: For help in Durham Region, contact Distress Centre Durham at 905- 430-2522, Kids Help Phone at 1-800- 668-6868, or the Durham Mental Health Services Crisis Line at 905-666-0483. Nobody in power cares about affordable housing To the editor: Re: ‘Mental health suffers without decent work’, letters, May 11 John MacDonald of the Durham Region Labour Council made an excellent point that governments should make efforts to “stem the tide” of precarious work because of its detrimental impact on mental health. He points out the precarious work is insecure. I would add that it is most often associated with minimum wage, part-time hours and no benefits. Often, these workers must manage two or three jobs like this just to make ends meet. Their monthly income is about $1,800. Is there such a thing as affordable housing for these people? If so, it would have to come in at around $550 per month. If the answer is government subsidized, geared to income, or any other form of relief, then you will stand in line with the thousands ahead of you. Single people haven’t got a chance. The United Nations and the Ontario Human Rights Commission has declared that housing is a fundamental human right. But, the OHRC is a lame duck in making it hap- pen. For example, the Town of Ajax has been allowed to prohibit shared living arrange- ments of three people or more without the landlord obtaining a special licence. The licence is totally unobtainable and the land- lord can be fined up to $100,000 for provid- ing such “affordable housing” to precarious workers and other “code” identifiable vulner- able persons who could only afford such an arrangement. Hard to believe? Then Google Town of Ajax bylaw #115-2013. Then, call the town office and ask how many “licences” have been issued in the almost three-and-a- half years since this Draconian bylaw came into effect. Mr. MacDonald correctly associates precarious work to mental health issues. I maintain that the lack, or shall I state “pro- hibition,” of affordable housing is a bigger issue. The problem is, nobody cares. Royce Baker Pickering Residents need to do more to keep Pickering clean To the editor: Re: ‘Pickering residents sick of drugs, sex, litter in Pinegrove Park’, news, May 10 First of all, I would like to thank David Fell- in for making this problem known to the city and to the public. I know this park because I walk this area and cut through the park along a path that leads out to the street. The path is also a mess. And the parking area issue, I have noticed the same thing. I am a con- stant complainer to Pickering Customer Care and my councillors about the garbage along Finch Avenue from Altona Road to Wood- view Avenue and along Woodview. So I am so glad to see that other residents who are dealing with these issues are speaking up and doing something about it. I wish more residents would take some time to clean up around their neighbour- hood. Along Finch and Woodview there are big expensive houses, but all I see is garbage. Pickering residents have to get more involved in keeping our neighbourhoods clean. Use cooked ground meat for tacos or bean-and-beef burritos, meat sauce and more. • To defrost food quickly, freeze it in batches of 4-6 portions or fewer.  Label with the date and how many portions are in each container. • Transfer meat from larger packages to freezer bags. Lay pieces apart so they freeze separately. That makes it easier to remove the number of pieces you need.   • Save time washing, peeling and chop- ping by using store bought frozen vegeta- bles and fruit. Before returning the bag to the freezer, squeeze the air out of the bag and use an elastic band or twist tie to wrap it tightly. • For tasty meals, freeze meats with a mar- inade. It will marinate while thawing.  What are some money-saving freezer meal tips? • When foods are on sale, buy extra amounts and freeze them. Lean meats on sale or whole-grain breads that are reduced in price can be a good buy.  • Make your own healthy “frozen dinners.” It costs less than store-bought versions or eating out. Do what’s called “batch cook- ing”. Cook up a large portion of a favourite meal like lasagna, curried chicken, corn chowder, beef stew, fish cakes or meatballs and portion into small or medium contain- ers.   Then you can pull out a container for dinner when you need it. • Use what’s in your freezer before it spoils. Place new items at the back of the freezer, move older ones to the front.  Label all items with a date before you freeze them so you’ll know what to use first. Check this chart to know how long food will keep in the freezer. • Save by buying seasonal vegetables and fruit and freezing the extras for up to 12 months. It’s a great way to eat local all year long! • Frozen fruit and vegetables are just as nutritious as fresh. Using frozen foods can save food waste if you are cooking for a small family or won’t be home to cook.  What is freezer burn and is it safe to eat? When frozen food has not been wrapped properly or has been frozen for too long, it can become freezer burnt.  This is because air has come into contact with the food. Freezer burn looks like white or greyish- brown spots on the food. It can make foods dry and less tasty. However, foods that are freezer burnt are still safe to eat. You can cut away the parts of the food that have freezer burn and then use the rest.  How can freezer burn be prevented? For foods to be frozen so they keep well, you want to stop air from coming in contact with the frozen food. Use heavy foil, freez- er bags or containers designed for freezing food.  Make sure to squeeze all the air out of freezer bags before sealing. How can food be safely frozen? • Very hot items can first be cooled at room temperature. Refrigerate once steam- ing stops. Within two hours, cooked foods should be refrigerated or frozen. • Cool food quickly in uncovered shallow dishes or in small amounts in the fridge.   • Use a thermometer to check the freezer temperature. It should be -18ºC (0ºF). • Leave some space between packages for cool air to move. • When freezing liquids, make sure to leave some space at the top of the jar. This is called “headroom” and allows the liquids to expand as they freeze. I came home to the fragrance of beef stew, crusty bread and my favou- rite pirate movie playing on the television (Ahrrr!).   I opened up  a burlap-covered bottle of Spanish red wine called Yago Condal. The wine was not overly expensive and the wine, food and entertainment left me with many fond memories. It was a perfect day back in 1975 (Ouch!). There have been other times when the timing, location, surroundings and people have contributed to a perfect moment and certainly affect my perception of the wine.    There was that time at a cafe by the gold- en shoreline of Sliema, Malta where a sim- ple pizza and a bottle of red wine called La Vallette, named after the grand master hero of Malta's Great Siege in 1531, proved a perfect combination. On another occasion I was in Montefal- co, Umbria. The sun was slowly giving way to the inevitable night and the vineyards stretched out seemingly endless — illumi- nated by the rays of descending star. As the warm breeze sifted past my face I took a sip of the Rocca di Fabbri Sagrantino. It was magic. The sunny Island of Cyprus brings to mind visions of ancient times and myth- ological heroes. However, the great port of Pafos, with its scenic views of the blue Mediterranean and its superb marina, made a great wine such as the Fikardos Maratheftiko taste that much better. Recently, on the Island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, having a glass of Quinta da Jar- dinete in the garden of Minuvida or a Talis- man Hotel balcony overlooking Ponta Del- gada after a long day of travelling was just the right thing for mind and soul. Finally, at home, who can contest that feeling of contentment on a warm sum- mer's eve when a good friend and a nice wine seem to be such good partners. An afternoon tea with a sweet from the Nile Valley would, I am sure, please most mothers. Umm Ali or ‘Mother of Ali’, a creamy pudding, is a dessert from Egypt. There are various legends attributed to the naming of this dish and the rea- son for its creation. One of the most common stories is that it had a somewhat unpleasant his- tory. It seems that Shajarat al-Durr, sec- ond wife of the 13th century Ayyubid sultan of Egypt, arranged to have the sultan’s first wife, Umm Ali, murdered. When the deed was done, to celebrate, she had a delicious dessert created by her cooks that she called ‘Umm Ali’. Made with milk, bread, and honey, the pudding was distributed throughout all of Egypt. Another tale is that the dish dates back to the Ottoman era in Egypt, when legend has it that the sultan stopped in a poor village looking for something to eat and the village’s best cook, Umm Ali, made this dish. Using the best ingredi- ents that she could find in the village, she created this pie. There are other legends that a British nurse named O’Malley, during the Brit- ish occupation of Egypt, invented the recipe. The Pie by the ‘Mother of Ali’ - Umm Ali Serves about 8 1 pound frozen puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions 3/4 cup pine nuts 1 cup raisins, rinsed 1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut 300 ml sweetened condensed milk 1 cup water 2 cups half and half cream 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 tablespoons butter Preheat oven to 400° F. Unroll puff pastry sheets and place on greased baking sheets. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden and puffed. Remove from oven and break into small pieces and place in large mixing bowl. In another bowl, mix together the pine nuts, raisins and coconut then add to puff pastry pieces and gently mix well togeth- er. Pour into 9- x 13-inch greased casserole and set aside. In a saucepan, add all the remaining ingredients and heat over medium until the butter melts and the liquid is heated through (not boiled), stirring constantly. Remove from heat and pour evenly over the puff pastry mixture. Bake at 400° F uncovered for 15 minutes. Serve warm on its own or with ice cream. Frank and Agnes Mae Conkey. Sheila had amazing spiritual vitality. She never failed, in any circumstances, to acknowledge the saving grace of God in the Lord Jesus Christ. Her first resolve in becoming aware of any challenge, was to pray. Sheila loved her family and friends, Aldon School for 16 years, the workshop, ARC Industries for 24 years, camping with Christian Horizons for many years, her cat, Buffy, Windsor House, the town of Ajax for 55 years, neighbouring, travelling, holidays, photography and worship, private, family and public. She was a proud Presbyterian. Sheila is remembered happily by many uncles, aunts and cousins in Canada and in Northern Ireland. Also, by Sarah, Penny and Mario and their kind directors in Windsor House. Her close friendship since birth with the Rev. Jim and Mrs. Ann McClure and their family has been precious and of benefit to her. A Celebration of Sheila's faith was held at ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (35 Church St. N., Ajax) on Tuesday, May 16. Sheila was laid to rest with her parents privately. If desired, memorial donations to the Ajax, Pickering and Whitby Association for Community Living, 36 Emperor St., Ajax, Ontario L1S 1M7 Arrangements entrusted to the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME (905-428-8488) A Book of Condolences may be signed online at www.mceachniefuneral.ca CORNEIL'S AUCTION BARNFriday May 19th at 4:30pmLocated 3 miles East of Little Britainon Kawartha Lakes Rd 49pc walnut dining room set - oak tea wagon - stained glass table and floor lamp - china cabinet - settee - acoustic guitars - cedar chest - oak buffet - rocking chairs - qty of dolls - modern dressers - Delta radial arm saw - 20" Sears scroll saw -010" Craftsman radial arm saw - 5' metal brake - Craftsman Professional tool box - B&D 10 000 BTU portable A/C - LG fridge - Whirlpool dishwasher - bicycles - White 18HP hydrostatic riding mower - Qty of china, glass, household and collectable itemsGREG CORNEIL AUCTIONEER1241 Salem Rd Little Britain 705-786-2183 for more info or pictures go to www.corneilauctions.com(terms cash, debit, cheque 10% buyers premium visa, mastercard 13% buyers premium)Open for viewing Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm and Friday at 9am Auctions & Sales A CarsC 2009 KIA RONDO EX $2995.; 2008 Pontiac G6 $2495.; 2007 Honda Civic DX-G $4995.; 2007 Ford Edge SEL $5995.; 2007 Chrysler PT Cruis- er $2495.; 2007 Mazda 3 $2995.; 2006 GMC Envoy SLT $3495.; 2005 Nissan X-Trail SE $1995.; 2005 BMW 320i $4495.; 2005 Buick Al- lure CXL $2495.; 2004 Chevy Malibu LS $1995.; 2004 Chrysler Sebring Tour $1195.; 2004 Hyundai Sonata $1495.; 2003 Toyota Camry LE $2995.; 2002 Chevy Cavailier $1295.; 2002 Acura RSX $2995.; 2002 Honda Civic $1995.; 2002 Toyota Echo $1495.; 2002 VW Beetle $1995.; 2001 Mercedes- Benz $1995.
