March is Nutrition Month across Canada, and Ms. Ireland and other dietitians across the country have been giving nutrition tips and guidance to customers at Loblaws and Great Canadian Superstore locations. “Giving people the correct information is very important,” said Ms. Ireland. After spending 15 years in nursing, she found many people begin eating well only after a close call with their health. “We can hugely decrease our risk of getting different diseases by what we eat,” she said. They want to make their health a priority but need the right tools to make healthier choices. One of the biggest nutrition myths out there found by the Dietitians of Canada, the national professional association for dietitians, is reading food labels is too hard. The organization said on its website it’s easy when people know what to look for. They should: check the serving size and compare it to what they actually eat; check the percent daily value (%DV) to see if a product has a lot or little of a nutrient -- five per cent is little, 15 per cent is a lot; and choose products with more vitamins, minerals and fibre, and less saturated and trans fats, sodium and sugar. Shopper Nabeel Ullah said since he doesn’t find much time to exercise, he eats the best he can to stay healthy. But that doesn’t mean he and his wife don’t have the odd treat. “For us, we try to find that middle ground,” he said. Ms. Ireland, who plans her meals fol- lowing Canada’s Food Guide, had simi- lar thoughts. She has “the odd treat, in moderation.” Chris Bellefontaine said it’s a struggle, but she and her husband try to give their young son as much food variety as pos- sible so he’s used to all of the different healthy options as he grows. “Usually we have a lot of berries because it’s easy for him to eat,” she said. Ms. Ireland said it is possible to make healthy changes, and taking small steps can add up. “Make one small change a week, and over time, they’ll add up to big changes,” she said. Members of the Durham police guns and gangs unit arrested two men in Oshawa for possession of cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy, and a short time later arrested a woman for drug possession. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at an Oshawa address where more than 100 grams of cocaine, valued at more than $10,000, was discov- ered, police said. E. Farewell top-ranked school in Durham KristEn Calis kcalis@durhamregion.com DURHAM -- The grades are out on aca- demic performances in Ontario’s elemen- tary schools, and Durham schools are all over the map. The Fraser Institute released its annual report cards on March 4, ranking Ontar- io elementary schools and revealing the academic performance of each school over the past five years. The report rates 2,695 public, Catho- lic and Francophone elementary schools across the province based on nine key indicators using data from annual prov- ince-wide testing on reading, writing and math. “Our report card is the only objective, reliable tool that shows which schools across Ontario have improved, or fallen behind, in terms of reading, writing and mathematics over the past five years,” Michael Thomas, Fraser Institute associ- ate director of school performance stud- ies, said in a press release. To the Durham District School Board, the information in the Fraser report is nothing new. “When we looked at the information, we (knew) where our schools (were) and it didn’t provide any new information for us,” said superinten- dent Luigia Ayotte. The board received results from prov- ince-wide testing months ago and has used that, as well as a number of in-house indicators, to address needs in the classrooms. Students learn at different paces, and teachers make individual plans to modify and plan curric- ulum to ensure success, said Ms. Ayotte. “Teachers do a lot of assessments as the kids are learn- ing,” she said. The report includes key information about each school’s make-up, including parents’ average income, the percentage of students using English as a second lan- guage and the percentage of special needs students. It also has a feature that enables Inter- net users to compare different schools. St. Francis de Sales is on top in Ajax with a rating of 8.3 for 2010-2011, putting it in 213th place. But over the past five years, it places 47th out of 2,283 schools. Lincoln Avenue on the other hand got 3.7, the lowest in Ajax. In Pickering, William Dunbar received an 8.3, and Bayview Heights got the low- est grade in Pickering, 4. In Whitby Colonel J. E. Farewell got 8.6 -- the highest in Durham -- and the lowest school in the town was Sir William Stephenson, which got 3.4. Coronation fin- ished the highest in Oshawa -- 7.9 -- and Gertrude Colpus scored the lowest with .7. Ger- trude Colpus finished within the bottom 20 out of all of the elemen- tary schools in Ontar- io, ranking 2,268 out of 2,283. Village Union didn’t fair much better with its .8 ranking, and neither did Glen Street with .9. Ms. Ayotte said ranking and shaming schools isn’t productive. The board does look at results from provincial tests and its own indicators to focus on which areas need to be addressed. “Results are one piece of data,” she said. “There’s a lot more to school life.” For more information: visit ontario.compareschoolrankings.org EDuCation Durham schools ranked in Fraser report FrasEr FinDings 2010-2011 rank, Average rank over the past five years Ajax High St. Francis de Sales -- 8.3, 8.8 Lakeside -- 7.4, 6.8 Lester B. Thank you for granting Moya Dillon free rein and the time to cover the 40th anniver- sary of People or Planes, giving this impor- tant local and national story the attention it deserves. Ms. Dillon wasn’t able to include all the facts, perspectives and opinions -- after 40 years there are so many. But what she did was capture the truth, the essence of this monumental event and its import. She captured the devastation and anger at the expropriation, and the passion of those who rose to fight it. She captured the frustration and fear of those who lived in the shadow of an airport for the next 40 years. And she captured the optimism, commitment and importance of the next generation fighting for these foodlands and the few remaining heritage structures, as shouted out with such pride and con- viction at the 40th anniversary celebration on March 2. There were many politicians with us in Brougham on Friday: all but one of Pickering council, councillors from throughout the region, plus our MP and MPP, but none of them spoke. All respected that this event was about PEOPLE or Planes as we honoured a grassroots movement of thousands of individuals who grounded two governments. As Scott Young (former Pickering resi- dent and father of Neil) wrote in 1972, “I hope that opposition to this affront against common sense eventually will be nation- wide, the largest single protest movement in Canadian history. It should be. It can be.” It was. Mary Delaney Brougham ‘love letter’ Student’s school suspension is overkill To the editor: Re: ‘Love letter goes south for Ajax student’, news, durhamregion.com, March 1, 2012. I would like to express the opinion that I felt the two-day suspension handed out to Paul Gomille was very heavy-handed. If school officials felt that handing out the “open” Valentine’s DaylLetter to all ladies was not appropriate, Paul could have been spoken to about it -- but a two-day suspen- sion is inappropriate. As I read the brief excerpt of the letter, I thought it was thoughtful and insight- ful and encouraging to young ladies to be themselves. As a mother to three adult children I was not offended by this letter in any way. There is a commercial current- ly on television which shows young ladies speaking about “not bowing down to peer pressure, not feeling the need to be thin to meet other people’s expectations of what attractive is, to be oneself .....” I took Paul’s letter to be along those same lines. As Paul’s father is a former high school teacher and had previously read the letter, I am in agreement that there was nothing wrong with it. If it was felt inappropriate to hand these letters out on Valentine’s Day, it could have been discussed. But to mar this young man’s school record with a suspen- sion is, in my opinion, overkill. Annemarie Turner Ajax recycling Let resourcefulness be its own reward To the editor: Re: Blue bin ‘scavengers’. The Region should not be concerned with loss of revenue to ‘scavengers’. If a bylaw is made banning this activity, it will cost money to enforce it. Individuals who participate in this pre-garbage pickup should be left to reap the rewards of their labour. It doesn’t matter whether they need the cash or not, they are working for it. It reminds me of the instructions given in Leviticus in the Old Testament. Farm- ers were not to harvest right to the edge of their fields or pick up what was dropped. Vineyards were not to be picked clean, but some left for the poor. Let us not increase the burden on social assistance programs but let resourceful- ness and effort bring their own rewards. David Riegert Ajax e-mail letters to newsroom@durhamregion.com / max. 200 words / letter writers are obliged to back up their statements with verifiable facts / please include your full first and last name, city of residence & daytime phone number / letters that do not appear in print may be published @ durhamregion.com Balance is needed to shape future of Pickering airport lands Forty years is a long time for north Pickering residents -- literally counted one year at a time -- to find clarity in the long saga of a potential airport. Area residents marked the anniversa- ry recently with reminiscences about the original expropriation of lands that began in 1972 to make way for an airport that was never built. The issue rose and fell with suc- cessive federal governments, with the only constant being uncertainty about the future of the lands. Residents and Pickering politicians were informed last year in a needs assessment study released by Transport Canada that seemed to provide some clarity: it called for an airport in Pickering by 2027 at the earli- est. Now, the federal agency is working on a detailed land use study and management strategy that will explore all options for potential uses of the land. Officials note that the focus is on economic development and environmental stewardship. Much has changed in 40 years in Pickering. The Durham Region of today didn’t yet exist in 1971 and is now a vibrant, growing col- lection of municipalities. Pickering’s popu- lation has tripled, its urban area built out. Plans remain in place for the community of Seaton, which would contribute to a pro- jected population of 170,000 residents by 2023. The transformation will continue, to be sure. Mayor David Ryan is on the mark in his approach to seeking not only balance in terms of future development of the airport lands, but also in his assertion that City offi- cials must be at the table to help shape deci- sions related to those lands. Unilateral deci- sions from higher levels of government will only serve to inflame opposition and lay waste to the importance of the balanced approach being sought here at home. An airport in Pickering will provide the economic propulsion necessary to serve Pickering and Durham Region’s growing population with ready, local jobs -- from the time shovels bite into the ground until the last flight leaves the runway. Mayor Ryan also noted that greenhouse technol- ogy could and should be used to exploit the agricultural benefits of lands around the air- port site. As he noted: “We need to ensure the lands around the airport would be used to best advantage of the municipality.” That speaks to the advantages offered by developing a portion of the geography as airport lands and reaping the economic benefits, a portion for greenhouse farming to reap the agricultural benefits and a por- tion for residential and commercial infra- structure and development to ensure the human benefits. du r h a m r e g i o n . c o m Ne w s A d v e r t i s e r • Ma r c h 9 , 2 0 1 2 7 AP Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Burlington 3060 Davidson Crt.905-315-8558 Kitchener-Waterloo 1138 Victoria St. N.519-576-4141 London 1040 Wharncliffe Rd. A message from Durham Tourism Kerri King March break is finally upon us. This time of year always feels like the hinge between winter and spring -- by the time it is over, spring is officially here, even if there’s another snow flurry or two. On the flip side, what this means is that this may be your last chance to get out on the slopes or the winter trails in Durham Region. The Durham Tourism team enjoyed an awesome day on the slopes last Friday for Brimacombe’s Networking on the Slopes event, and the conditions were outstand- ing (and so was the poutine.) We’ve had a particular- ly warm winter, but Durham’s four ski hills have great snowmaking capacity, so there’s still lots of skiing left in those hills for March break. Our local arenas have lots of skating opportunities, too. If you haven’t had a chance yet this winter, March break is a great time to lace up your skates and take the kids for a few spins around the rink, and then out for a delicious hot chocolate and a treat. Most of our area municipali- ties also have March break camps and activities for kids. Check out your local municipality’s recreation listings to see what’s on offer to keep kids occupied and enter- tained during the week. March break also launches maple syrup season. The trees are ready to be tapped, and Durham Region is jam-packed with cel- ebrations and festivals to welcome this sweet annual treat. Did you know Canada produc- es about 85 per cent of the world’s supply of maple syrup? Hit the sugar bush with your family, then cook up some pancakes and savour this unique Canadian crop. For more information about Durham maple syrup suppliers, visit www.durhamfarmfresh.ca. Oshawa’s landmark, owned by the Uni- versity of Ontario Institute of Technology, was closed at the end of January after piec- es of the ceiling fell one night when the theatre was empty. The original estimate was that it would re-open by mid March and several events were either postponed or moved elsewhere. “As work progressed, they decided rath- er than repairing part of the ceiling, the whole ceiling would be replaced,” said Lisa Banks, UOIT’s director of communication and marketing. “That’s why we’re delaying the opening of the theatre.” When the theatre does re-open, it won’t have the exact same ceiling, which previ- ously featured moulded designs. Instead, Ms. Banks says the ceiling will be flat. The university has worked with Heritage Oshawa and the City and castings of the ceiling have been made, but the money isn’t there at this time to restore the ceiling to its previous state. “Steps have been taken to preserve it, but I think it’s going to be over time,” she says. The five chandeliers at the theatre are unaffected by the ceiling work. As a result of the delay, one upcoming show has been moved while three others are no longer taking place. The April Wine concert originally sched- uled for Feb. 18, and then moved to March 23, has been cancelled. The Ontario Philharmonic’s Beat of the Drums concert, scheduled for March 30 at the Regent, has also been cancelled. Also called off is the Art With a Heart fundraising concert featuring Durham saxophonist Matthew James, scheduled for March 24. Emerson Drive, slated to play the Regent on March 15, will perform on that date but at Class Act Dinner Theatre in Whitby. The show is sold out. “The theatre manager has been doing his best to contact ticket holders,” Banks said. The next scheduled event at the theatre is Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe on April 13. The Regent also hosts UOIT classes and Banks said a temporary classroom was cre- ated at the UOIT building at 61 Charles St. to accommodate the impacted students. Banks said if the public has any ques- tions about events at the theatre, they should contact the box office, still open during the ceiling work, at 905-721-3399, ext. 2. He is a 28 year old who plays for the Durham Steelhawks based in Whitby. ajax resident to participate in sledge hockey brad KeLLy bkelly@durhamregion.com AJAX -- An injury suffered while snowboard- ing a few years ago left Dustin McKnight unable to play hockey anymore, but joining the Dur- ham Steelhawks, a sledge hockey team based in Whitby, has given him a second chance at the game. In fact, the Ajax resident will be among a num- ber of elite athletes competing at the Ontar- io Winter Games in Collingwood March 9-11. McKnight will be playing for Ontario North, as the province divides the best sledge hockey play- ers into four quadrants -- East, West and South being the others -- for the Games. “I wasn’t even able to play beer league hockey or anything because my ankles were so bad, so I found sledge hockey and really took off,” says McKnight of the severe arthritis in his ankles that makes it difficult to skate. “The game plays pretty much the same, so I was able to slide in that way. Being strapped into a sled for the first little while was pretty awkward. You can’t really move around too much.” The 28 year old started playing for the Steel- hawks two years ago. He attended a couple of tryouts for Team Ontario North that would play at the Ontario Winter Games, receiving an e-mail letting him know he was named to the team. “I was very happy,” he says of his inclusion on the team. “I’m fairly new to the sport so it was kind of a surprise to get the nod to go.” While the majority of sledge hockey players are confined to a wheelchair or have a disabil- ity, McKnight says there isn’t any resentment in regards to able-bodied players joining local teams or leagues. However, able-bodied players are not permitted to play at some of the higher levels, including the Paralympics, he points out. Since this is still a relatively new experience for McKnight, he doesn’t know what to expect this weekend. “To tell you the truth, I have no idea,” he says. “This is my first time so I really don’t know what to expect. I’m pretty excited, but I don’t know what the competition level will be like.” Two preliminary games are Friday, with the last one Saturday morning. The semifinals go Saturday afternoon, with the gold medal game Sunday at 11 a.m., preceded by the bronze medal game at 9 a.m. The Ontario Winter Games are a multi-sport competition that showcases some of Ontario’s best amateur athletes. Athletes from the Games could progress to national championships, Can- ada Games, Pan Am Games, Commonwealth Games, Olympics or world championships. Organizers are expecting approximately 1,000 male and 1,200 female athletes to participate. HiGH scHOOL dunbarton, Pine ridge come up short at OFsaa PICKERING -- Despite advancing into the playoff round, there were no provincial championships to be cel- ebrated by Dunbarton or Pine Ridge at the OFSAA championships. Both the Dunbarton senior girls’ volleyball team and the Pine Ridge senior boys’ basketball team won their share of games at their respective OFSAA tournaments. Dunbarton finished second in pool play with a 2-1 record, beating West- mount 25-22, 20-25, 15-7 and Nan- tyr Shores 25-12, 25-21, but losing to Grand River 25-22, 18-25, 12-15 at the championships held in Kitchener- Waterloo-Cambridge. The two wins were enough to put them into the quarter-finals, where they swept Aurora 25-23, 25-18. The run of success ended in the semifinals however, losing to the even- tual gold medal-winning team from For- est Heights 21-25, 18-25. Still stinging from that loss, Dunbarton missed out on a chance to medal when they lost to PE Trudeau 21-25, 25-16, 7-15 in the bronze game. In Ottawa, Pine Ridge made its way into the quarter-finals before los- ing to the No. 5-seeded St. Michael’s 52-47. The tournament started off well for Pine Ridge, seeded fourth in the 16-team tournament, defeating Louis Riel Rebelles 54-44, followed by a 52-40 victory over No. 13 JF Ross in the next outing. That win moved them into the quarter-finals. Jamal Reynolds was the top scorer in all three games for Pine Ridge, net- ting 28, 21 and 19 points in each of the three games respectively. tracK smith getting better on the track AMES, IOWA -- Junior Marissa Smith of Ajax ran a personal best of 8.42 in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Drake track-and-field squad at the Iowa State qualifier. The Pickering High School grad, who last week won the Missouri Valley Conference title in the event, finished second in the event. Smith now waits as her time did meet the provisional stan- dard for the NCAA indoor track-and- field championship in Nampa, Idaho on March 9-10. Smith is on scholarship at Drake where she is a marketing and manage- ment major. Two teams win at qualifier in Port Perry Two Annandale teams advanced to the OCA Ban- tam mixed regional slated for Oakville Curling Club on March 10-11 after win- ning in the Port Perry zone on Feb. 25-26. Matt Hall won the B side with Kaitlin Jewer, Cody McGhee and Emma Beck- er with Lesley Pyne as coach. Two winning teams will head to the Ontario finals in Smiths Falls March 28. Also, the OCA Junior mixed zone competed in Port Perry on Feb. 25-26. Jennifer McGhee coached Ben Bevan’s junior mixed team of Margot Flem- ming, Carter Adair and Megan Arnold as lead. This Annandale team also advances to the regional to be held in Oakville March 10-11. A Tam Heather Bantam team of Conor Joudrey, Joseph Hart, Kurt Arm- strong and David Hart, with Pickering Olympi- an Richard Hart as coach, are in the Ontario Winter games March 8-10 in Col- lingwood. Dunbarton High School had two curling teams entered for the first time in the Lake Ontario Sec- ondary School Athletics league. All the players with the exception of one curl- er were from Annandale. The girls’ team of Melis- sa Retz with Sara Cous- ins, Alicia Yee and Kayla McKay finished fourth overall. The boys’ team of Riley McMulkin with Jared Anderson, Cody McGhee and Rafiq Suleman took the bronze medal. A mixed team of Melissa Retz, Cody Mcghee, Ali- cia Yee and Rafiq Suleman captured the gold medal. The teams were coached by Aimiee Nelson and Rob McMulkin. The 47th annual St. Pat- rick’s Bonspiel runs at Annandale on Saturday, March 17. There are three six-end games, snacks, lunch, dinner and cash prizes. Some of the on-court highs included the progres- sion of young stars Brandon Robinson, Morgan Lewis and Omari Johnson, not to mention an unlikely run toward the playoffs that just fell short. The aforemen- tioned three made waves for their scoring acumen and all-around solid play from start to finish and, along with Canadian guard Tut Ruach, they will rep- resent the club at the NBL Canada all-star weekend in Halifax at the end of the month. There was also the hir- ing of coach Robert Brickey just after Christmas, a move that seemed to reinvigorate the team during the second half following some strug- gles under former coach Mark Strickland. Indeed, there is plenty to build on, on the court, in looking ahead for the Power. “At the end we were able to see that we made some great selections,” Oshawa’s vice-president of basket- ball operations Gary Dur- rant said in a wide-ranging interview earlier this week. “We picked young players and developed them as we went along and they really came together towards the end and made a push.” Whether they get a chance to build on that during a second season in Oshawa is up in the air. While optimistic that the product can thrive in these parts, Durrant was non- committal when asked if the Power will be back at the General Motors Centre for a second season. “I can’t until I sit down and talk with our owner- ship group,” he said when asked to offer up a percent- age guess on if the team would be back. “We’ll sit down, reflect, assess and look at all possibilities. I don’t want to speak out of turn on that. As far as I am concerned we’re (going to be) back in Oshawa, plan- ning events in Oshawa ... Of course a lot of things will have to fall in place for that to happen. We can’t have another season like this one here. The trial is over. From here it has to be upwards and onwards.” The Power struggled mightily at the gate this sea- son, ranking at or near the bottom in attendance on most nights. And while the lack of fans made for a rel- atively dead atmosphere in the arena on most nights, perhaps most crippling was the fact that Durrant’s hands were tied, in terms of bringing in outside help when the club ran into inju- ries, due to lack of revenue. Unfortunately for the club, it doesn’t appear there is an easy answer to its woes. While ticket prices seemed rather high when initially announced, as the season progressed, with a num- ber of promotional pushes offered by the club, admis- sion could be had for as lit- tle as $6 a ticket. “Where else can you take your family (of four) for $24 and watch that calibre of basketball in such a beauti- ful arena?,” he said, noting the knowledge of the club’s existence seemed to grow through the season. That was no more evident than a game in late January when some 6,000 free tick- ets were dispersed through- out the region and the GM Centre was packed for a game against Saint John. “When 6,000 people show up for a free game, or when 2,000 showed up for our first exhibition game for $2 a ticket, it’s hard to feel that it’s just about the advertis- ing,” he said. du r h a m r e g i o n . c o m Ne w s A d v e r t i s e r • Ma r c h 9 , 2 0 1 2 15 P Aquatics |Camps |Fitness |Leisure |RacquetsAquatics|Camps |Fitness |Leisure |Racquets Get Ready to Register! The Ontario Junior Hockey League club announced on its website Wednesday that Steven Tuchner has purchased the team from Rob Stein. Financial details were not disclosed. Tuchner is the CEO of Triumph Asset Management, a boutique hedge fund, and a chartered accountant with an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. He currently sits on the resources committee of the Mount Sinai Hospital, the board of governors at the Sterling Hall School and is a member of the UCC Association Coun- cil. An old face will be back behind the bench, as Mike Galati, who began coach- ing the team this season before getting fired in November by Stein, is listed at the team’s head coach. At the time of his dis- missal, the Panthers had a 3-18-1 record. His assistants are listed as Phil Barski and Dan Sullivan. The Panthers will be holding a Spring Prospect Camp from April 24-29 at the Pickering Recreation Complex. The camp is open to players born from 1994 to 1997. Hockey UOIT women’s hockey lands first out-of-province recruit OSHAWA -- Having not yet stepped on the ice as a member of the UOIT Ridgebacks, Alyssa Palmer-Dixon has already made her way into the history books. Late last month Palmer-Dixon became the first out-of-province recruit to sign on the dotted line with the Ridgebacks women’s hockey program. The Bedford, Nova Scotia native will debut with the club this fall. “We are excited that Alyssa has chosen to come to UOIT in the fall,” said UOIT head coach Karen Nystrom in a press release announcing her Palmer-Dixon’s signing. “Landing a top recruit from another prov- ince shows the progress our program is mak- ing across the CIS. Her competitive attitude, determination to succeed and experience with being on a winning team will be an asset to our program as we continue to grow as a team.” Palmer-Dixon will study biological science at UOIT. du r h a m r e g i o n . c o m Ne w s A d v e r t i s e r • Ma r c h 9 , 2 0 1 2 16 AP Advertising Feature KLC COLLEGE LAUNCHES NEW PROGRAM KLC COLLEGE: Healthcare, Business, Education is expanding in the Durham region with the introduction of new programs. While the College has been in Whitby for over 8 years successfully training students in their Education Assistant program, it has embarked to bring many of the other programs it has been successfully delivering for almost 30 years in the South Eastern part of Ontario. With a proven track record, and thousands of graduates gainfully employed in the Kingston and surrounding areas, KLC College has undertaken an ambitious expansion to their Whitby Campus. The first program to receive approval from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is their Personal Support Worker Program. This 24 week Diploma is both nationally recognized and accredited by the National Association of Career Colleges. Program coordinator, Audrey DeCecco, claims strong support from the local area employers. “Their enthusiasm and willingness to work with our students and graduate was very encouraging. We are very excited about the career opportunities that exist for our graduates.” She continued. The College Director, Stephen Bartolini, hopes to build on the success that the Whitby Campus has had training Education Assistants over the past 8 years. Under the leadership of Norm Rudd the program coordinator, students receive a well rounded education. They are given particular exposure to dealing with students that have special needs. Child development, communications, behavior and education foundations are all covered extensively, and much, much more. The host schools welcome our students because of their ability to deal with these exceptionalities. The students are exposed to both elementary and high school environments, so that when they graduate they have a broader range of employment opportunities. KLC College is now preparing for an intake in April for the Personal Support Worker Program as well as an intake in September for both the PSW and the Education Assistant Programs.
