PICKERING -- Playing hockey, as well as
watching it, will be less of a challenge at
Don Beer Arena thanks to new multi-mil-
lion-dollar funding.
“The goalie has to go out and dress in the
hallway because there’s not enough room
in the dressing room,” said Ward 3 Regional
Councillor Rick Johnson of current condi-
tions.
The Pickering councillor, a long-time user
and supporter of Don Beer, attended Thurs-
day’s announcement the municipal, fed-
eral and provincial governments will pro-
vide equal funding toward the $2.5-mil-
lion expansion of the arena, plus $300,000
toward the BayRidges Kinsmen Park Field-
house.
