The Government has thrown open for entry 150,000 Free Homesteads

20 miles of operated lines of the Company, while the balance will be ser-

Alberta—the Province already noteworthy for its fertile lands and
salubrious Climate—takes first place in the total of_bomesteads offered.
But the wonderful Wheat lands of Saskatchewan are well represented in
the free Farms which have been thrown open for entry. Manitoba—the

in her life the beauty and power of

asked her Pastor to read the story of

won the highest prizes in the
leading fruit shows held in To-

most obliging, and always ready
to do a good turn to those in need.
In politics he was an ardent Lib-

He was also a member of. the

and one son, John Dougall, who
has now the homestead.

Hyde and Somers have area
most favorable impression among
the people here. They are most
affable in their manner and they
have showed that they have no
aversion to hard work, for no
sooner bad they arrived than they
donned their overalls, and got
right down to work.- They are
anxious. to learn the best methods
of farming as, carried . on in Can-
ada, and while they are not
looking for a fortune, they do not
conducting their farm at
a loss. They seem to enjoy the
freedom of Canadian life, when
compared with the hard fast rules
of which the members of their
class are surrounded in England.
Like other members of .the British
aristocracy they seem to feel that
the . future of Canada presents
greater opportunities for them
than they can find anywhere else.
In corning to Pickering they have
