On Monday morning last a gloom was cast over the village and surrounding district when the news was received that one of the oldest residents of the village, W.V. The deceaseed had been in failing health for several years, but a week prior to his death his condition became worse from an attack of nervous flu, which he was uanble to shake off. Mr. Richardson was born on the base line where he lived until about 40 years ago, when he moved into the village, where he lived continuously in the house in which he died. He was one of a family of thirteen, 10 daughters and three sons, of whom 4 sisters survive. Louisa, of Pickering, Mrs Clark and Mrs. Rorke, of Toronto, and Mrs. McTaggart, of Clarksburg, and one brother, James T., of Humbolt, Sask. In 1869, he married Sarah Cornell, who survives him. He had a family of two sons and one daughter. Walter C., of Philadelphia, James and Lizzie, of Pickering, all of whom survive him. After giving up farming he built up an extensive insurance and conveyanceing business. He took an active interest in all matters dealing with the welfare of the community. His cheerful disposition won for him a host of friends who held him in very high esteem. He was a member of the Sociey of Friends, and in politics he was and ardent Liberal. The large number who followed his remains to the Friend's burying ground on Wednesday afternoon showed the high esteem in which he was held.
