In a somewhat surprising move, the Metro Junior 'A' Ilockev League club has alreadv named its team captain. The squad's on -ice general is forward Jeff Bain. 20, a two-year member of the Panthers who's entering his last season of junior eligibility. New head coach John Blackburn says Bain put his name forward to become the team's captain and, after a brief inter- view, the Oshawa resident was picked. "I sat down and talked to Jeff John Blackburn and he expressed an interest in filling the leadership void. Everything he said is what I like in a captain and a leader." says Blackburn who took over the bead coaching reins two months ago. Blackburn notes Bain was named captain prior to the season in order to bring some stability to the squad before it starts training Camp. "I think the kids from last year didn't know what to expect_ By keeping Jeff involved it sends a Positive message to the players from last year_ He's already been in contact with some of the players and be's told them to come to camp in good shape because the team is going to have a good season this year." says Blackburn.
