But Mr. Adler said yesterday that Mr. Stark "woe foolish in giv- ing alcohol to a young girl (in the summer of 1989), but it's different to alleging he gave her a drug. "The summer of 1989 incident shows Peter Stark was a bad man, that he gave (Julie Stanton) too much to drink. But it has nothing to do with April 16, 1990. It's easy to be filled with righteous indignation on Peter Stark. He deserves to be condemned for his lies. It's right for you to be repulsed by his lies and cavalier attitude, but there's no room for passion in your deliberation," Mr. Adler told the jury. Despite Mr. Stork's best effort to deceive police, he has no alibi for his whereabouts between 2 and 6 p.m. on the day the youth disap- peared, Mr. Scott told the jury. Bank statements show Mr. Stark was in Bow•manville shortly after 12 p.m. on April 16. He also told police he was on his boat, docked in Bowmanville, sleeping between 1 and 4 p.m. Yet Mr. Stark admitted to friends and fam- ily he had picked up Julie but dropped her off nea October. During his closing statement to the jury, Mr. Scott said the accused lured Julie Stanton to her death under the premise that he wanted to have lunch with her to discuss problems he was having with his daughter Kim, a former friend of Julie's. But his real motivation for picking up the girl was to have sex with her, Mr. Scott charged. When Julie refused Mr. Stork's advances and threatened to tell her parents, she was taped and murdered. "It's my respectful submission that Julie Stanton had no thoughts of a ride in the country with Peter Stark on April 16. 1990." he said. The Crown has alleged sexual assault took place prior to the murder because "although Julie had boyfriends, she was proud of her virginity. She clearly was not going to go with the 43 -year-old father of a friend. This wasn't in the plan at all." Mr. Scott said it was that same sexual interest which led Mr. Stark to lure Julie. 13 at the time, onto his boat in the summer of 1989 on the pretext of discussing problems he was having with his daughter. It was during that meeting that Julie was given "an ice blue cool- er" believed to contain the power- ful sedative Halcion, which Mr. Stark had been prescribed for a hear condition, the jury was told. According to testimony during the trial, the youth blacked out after drinking the cooler and had no memory of the meeting with Mr. Stark. Following the meeting, Julie was dropped off at the home of friend Tanya Whitehead, who testified the youth was slurring her words and had urinated in her shorts. "Is that bow you deal with the 13 -year-old friend of a daughter, who you've asked for help, by incapacitating her? What older reason do you get an attractive 13- year-old down to your residence? Tyrell MacKinnon, 18, of Scarborough, nodded in recognition and gave a slight wave with two handcuffed arms as he was led into the courtroom. Once in the prison- er's box, Mr. MacKin- non mouthed several words and made numer- 1 ous gestures with his head to a male relative sitting in the court- room. The [Hale relative mouthed some words back and returned the gestures before being told by a court security officer to stop communicating with the prison - er. Once the brief proceedings were under way, however. Mr. MacKinnon looked impassive. Following a 15 -minute pre- trial hearing in the judge's cham- bers, a new pre-trial hearing date of Tuesday. Dec. 6 was set. It was expected that a date for a preliminary hearing would be set, but that plan was derailed after a 17 -year-old young offend- er from Scarborough was arrest- ed Monday and charged with first-degree murder and robbery in connection with the Oct. 3 tall, told the court that "because my client is in custody," he would like to see the case proceed as quickly as possible. He said he has yet to receive full disclosure on the case against his client from the Crown. But that's not likely to happen until police are confident they have completed their investigation of the murder. Mr. MacKinnon is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Mr. Chow. a part- time employee of Firearm Train- ing Ranges. Mr. Chow was also a member of the Durham Sport Shooters Club, which uses the privately -owned ranges as home base. Police say Mr. MacKinnon, arrested just four days after the murder and robbery during which three semi-automatic handguns were stolen, was also a member of the gun club. Howev- er, they say there's no indication the suspect and victim knew each other. The handguns have not been recovered. by loo- AITKENHEAD Sales Rwesa ft" DREAM HOLIDAYS Part 3 of 5 There appear to be more perceived negatives than there really are. You can conjure up all kinds of horror stories about strangers using your home. Ile "exchangers" appear to be remarkably free from these problems. Many of the negatives seem to be in the area of expectations. We. being human, expect the rest of the world to live up to our standards. And sometimes that doesn't happen. One Canadian couple exchanged with a couple in Hawaii and spent the first day scrubbing the moldy walls of their exchange home. However, for those that have been to Hawaii - you know this is a way of life there. And this couple came to realize it too and subsequently reported that they had a great holiday. And what about damage, theft or auto coverage? In most cases your homeowner's insurance takes care of that. Your auto insurance should be checked but it usually does as well. In total, WESTWORLD HOLIDAY EXCHANGE received only one report of a disappointment during a recent year. I take creat txide in the fact that my clients aren't disappointed either. The period fran 1978 to `85 rep- resents the "critical years the Red Cross and the Ministry of Health have identified" when someone could have been infected by the virus from a transfusion, Mr. Cliff says. WV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) cases began appearing in Canada in 1978, he notes. Sandra Tesolin, manager of com- munications for the Canadian Red Cross Society's Toronto and Central Ontario Blood Centre, says all dona- tions were tested for HIV beginning Nov. 1, 1985. "Up until that point, there wasn't a test available for the Canadian Red Cross to use," she says. Since testing began, HIV -tainted units have been discarded. The hospital began a `kook -hack program' in the spring, checking its blood bank lab records of transfu- sions given between 1978 and '85. Current addresses were also found, although the whereabouts of fewer than -50 people weren't discovered. Blood recipients were of all ages, Mr. Cliff says. Letters for children under 16 are being sent to the parent or guardian listed on the child's medical record. If the hospital knows a person has died, the letter is being sent to next of kin. Earlier this year, hospitals in Toronto began notifying former patients of the risk of possibly receiving tainted blood. The Ajax hospital received "some calls, but nix too many" from former patients when the actions of the Toronto hos- pitals were publicized, Mr. Cliff says. "We may get some after we send out the letters. People are aware of HIV and the possibility of tainted blood. I assume they've had a test. It's not a brand new issue. The News Advertiser regularly uses recy- cled newsprint ♦EDITORIAL Be careful out there Judging by the way motorists were driving during the first snowfall of the season Wednesday, everyone had just moved to Canada and was unfamiliar with the cli- mate. That was the tongue-in-cheek observation of Sergeant Rick Bates of Durham Regional Police. It's the same story every year. The first taste of win- ter means numerous fender benders as drivers fail to adjust their habits to meet weather conditions. Eleven of the 76 accidents in Durham Region on Wednesday involved injuries, luckily all of them minor. Ontario Provincial Police Constable Bill Garnett pre- dicts it will take about three snow storms before we all adjust and scan driving safely. He says the same rash of accidents will happen again if the next bit of nasty weather is awhile in coming. Wednesday's snowfall, which amounts to nothing when you consider what a Canadian winter can dump on us, should serve as a little test to all of us who were behind the wheel. Although it should go without saying, snow and ice call for a little extra caution. Police advise we should give ourselves extra time to get to work, beware of icy highway ramps, and leave adequate space between our- selves and the vehicle ahead. It also makes sense that, as it takes a longer braking distance to stop on slippery pavement, we don't zip along at excessive speeds. Worse weather is ahead of us; this is Canada after all. Maybe some of the motorists who were on the highways Wednesday really are new to the country. Most of us aren't. Regardless, we've all had a reminder from Old Man Winter. Take the reminder seriously and drive safely this sea- son. Lt I(el'6 WRr1E To THE NEWs ADvwnsER 130 COMMERCIAL AVE. Now that the dust has settled from the local elections, we in Ajax do seem to have a well balanced kx*mg council with views that may at tunes conflict. but at the same time will lead to healthy, forthright argument that will result in the: good of our town. However, a question that has intri, ued me and other viewers of the council meetings is when Mayor Witty is absent for any reason, or when he declares a "conflict of interest" what criteria is used to decide who temporarily assumes the chair? It seems to me that the same councillor automatically takes over for Mr. Witty and I wonder if this is how it should be. As we do not vote for a deputy mayor then should not the council as a whole have the chance to elect their own deputy? Better still, why not rotate the duty between all members of council so they all have a chancL to chair a meeting? This would also give councillors a different perspec- tive of the proavdings and make them a more rounded member of the group. Mayor Witty has publicly declared that this will be his last term of office. I believe both regional councillors have already expressed a wish to succeed Mr.Witty and at the very least these prospective chief executives should share any chair duties that become necessary. This would dispel any nus - construed ideas of favoritism. Each year, thousands of children from across Canada and other parts of the world send letters to Santa Claus and Canada Post employees help jolly old St. Nick respond to all of them. The letters are always answered in the language or method, such as braille, in Vw h i c h they're writ- ten. Letters should be addressed to Santa Claus, North Pole, 110110110, Canada. Dont for- get your return address to make sure you get a response. Last year, about one million letters were sent to Santa and some 10,000 Canada Post employees volunteered their spare time to help St. Nick with his responses. The Ontario Ministry of Trans- portation has begun operating its free up-to-date information service on road conditions on all provin- cial highways. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until April 3. Reports combine the latest Iiuterized weather -tracking system with updates from ministry main- tenance staff across Ontario. Callers can speak with an infor- madon officer, or use a touch-tone or cellular phone to listen to a bilingual recorded message. Usually, most provincial roads are cleared within 24 hours after a snowfall. However, the severity of the storm, the highway's location and the volume of traffic it carries are factors in when the road is cleared. From affordable single-family homes or luxurious custom estates, Dalerose brings the latest and most innovative design features to its communities. The motto at Dalerose Homes is 'building your dreams." What that means is that Dalerose does more than put up a house. In delivering the finest quality homes for today's value -conscious consumer, the company strives to provide a new standard of home for the new generation of homebuyers in Ontario. Dalerose Homes has developed its communities - in cities like Orangeville and Bolton - with this approach and Buckingham Gate, in Pickering, is no exception. In fact, at Buckingham Gate, Dalerose Homes is not just building a community. Here you will find a collection of attractive homes, sitting along curving tree -lined streets and set against a mature woodland backdrop. The transforming of the site's 21 hectares includes over half a million dollars that have been committed to the landscaping of Buckingham Gate to ensure the homes and the community beautifully compliment the sur- rounding area. "Landscaping is one of the first things you notice going into an area," says Dalerose Homes sales representative, Brian Mahaffy. "In Buckingham Gate the goal with the land- scaping was not only to beautify the community and add to its appeal but to offer the home- owner some privacy. So, there will be mature as well as miniature trees going into the area." It won't take you long to realize Buckingham Gate is not like other communities. In fact, you can not only see, but sense the difference. Then, travel along the tree -lined avenues and notice how the attractive traditional home designs are enhanced by hardwood and There are fire estate home designs to choose from in the Regency Collection. Each enjoys the expanse of a 60 -ft. lot and a three -car garage. W I AW WHA T THE GONNA conifer trees and how the many shrubs and flowers blend with the natural beauty of the area. "Another asset of the sub -division is that it is secure with only one entrance -way com- ing in," Mahaffy adds. Buckingham Gate is a community of homes on 45, 50, and 60 -foot lots. All homes are loaded with attractive and quality features and each with its own distinctive aattributes. Homes in the Empress Collection, for example, sit on 45 -foot lots and impress with design and building elements that would require a much larger lot in neighboring communities. Inside, there are unique arches - angled staircases and spacious living rooms with vaulted ceilings. The elegant Sovereign Collection features homes on 50 -foot lots that exemplify the care Dalerose gives to detail in the building process. The Sovereign Collection homes include master ensuites with step-up oval tubs, separate showers and double vanities as well as eat -in kitchens with gorgeous greenhouse breakfast areas. If you are looking for that special home, take a look at the Regency Collection, where homes enjoy the spaciousness of a 60 -foot lot and feature built-in entertainment centres, master bedrooms with sitting areas, three -car garages, optional three -sided fireplaces and many other luxurious appointments. "All of the designs are special in that they haven't been built anywhere before," Mahaffy says. "About a third of the 80 homes we have available have already been sold and all our clients have commented on the quality workmanship and construction." Complimenting the serene beauty and setting of Buckingham Gate are the many ameni- ties Pickering has to offer. Schools, neighborhood parks, recreation and shopping facilities are all just minutes away. A year-old separate school is already on-site and a neighborhood park is also includ- ed in the plans. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the close proximity of Riverside Golf Course and for most shopping needs, the Pickering Town Centre is a short distance away. Commuting is made easier with a short distance travel to Hwy. 401 or the Go Transit station or along the newly -finished Taunton-Steeles connection. Buckingham Gate homes appeal to a variety of people - from retired couples, to young couples just starting out. `The area and the homes themselves accomodate any lifestyle," Mahaffy emphasizes. Dalerose Homes builds homes on five fundamental values - quality farness, respect, ethics and integrity. Come see the Dalerose difference at Buckingham Gate. Homes in Buckingham Gate start at $211,990 and range up to $292,990. Buckingham Gate is located off Rossland Rd. (Concession Line 3) just east of Brock Rd. in Pickering. The sales office is open Monday to Thursdav from 1 to 8 p.m.. from noon to 6 p.m. on Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays. MARYANN FRANKO, DC, BA, BPE DOCTOR OF CHIROPRACTIC The Santa Claus parade has started the shopping ball rolling. Some people have actually told me they have completed the humongous task of gift - hunting. But, for Nose of us late (?)- starters. or as an added bonus, consider making a sit;nifrcanr difference in the lives of your loved ones. I cannot imagine a greater gift to give than the gift of health. You really can live without a ton of new trinkets. Yet you cannot enjoy much of anything without good health. You really do have to start when you're young if you have that option; but it is never too late to make health a priority. We find in our clinics that all too many have avoided putting their health first. I once gave my grandmother, now 93, who has a wonderful sense of humour, a card that Head, -if I had known I was going to live this long. I'd have taken better cane of myself!" All too often we wait until we have a major crisis on our hands -- probably because that's the kind of "healthcare" dud we think is free; yet. we all complain about how high our taxes are getting. So, let's make a shift away from the sickness approach to dealing with health issues by giving the people we know an opportunity to get to the bottom of their problem once and for all; to assist them in correcting it, and then to support them in maintaining good health. You can play an important part in this process by giving healthy products and services this year that can actually change their lives. This is the gift from a true friend. The Christmas season is a reminder to me of the birth of the baby Jesus who grew to be a man and spent his brief life teaching that we should have life and have life more abundantly. So at this time of year we have a wonderful opportunity to enhance the lives of our loved ones. Give a truly meaningful gift that will bring tidings of comfort and joy throughout the year. NOYDOER 24 b!s SPORTS I r Vcunuxc Annandale sheets busy with new skins playdown By ,JIM EASSON SPECIAL TO THE NEWS ADVERTISFR AJAX-PICKERING — There's a new twist to the men's competitive curling league at Annandale this Season. Drawmaster Harry Nolte has invested a lot time adding a skins playdown for the rinks in addition to the normal Tuesday and Wednesday matches. With so many teams involved, it will take the whole season to get all the extra games in. Rinks are showing up at al] odd hours of the week when there is an open sheet of ice, as the club is very busy. 00:3 The Ontario Curling Association (OCA) zone playdowns are under way. The latest playdown was the CIBC Seniors contested at the Oshawa Golf Club Nov. 19 to 21. Annandale sent one team with skip Walter Nash, Rocky Bergeron, Jim Easson and Mark Scanlon. A record of one win and two losses put the rink on the sidelines. However, two teams survived the field of 12 entries and proceed to the regional playdown at Toronto Royals Dec. 3 and 4. The next OCA zone playdown is the Holiday Inn Challenge at the Port Perry Curling Club Dec. 3 to 5. Only one rink per curling club is permitted in this contest for rated players. Two winners will advance to the Ontario finals in Brighton and Trenton Jan. 20 to 22. No wonder the playdowns are not getting any easier. A 1987 survey showed that 753,000 Canadians aged 15 and over curled. Now, that number has grown to 1.32 million, 25,000 of whom curl competitively. Everyone a winner in 10th Disabled Children's Games AJAX-PICKERING — Young disabled athletes from across Southern Ontario will converge on the Pickering Recreation Complex for the 10th annual Disabled Children's Games Saturday, Nov. 26. The event, sponsored by Durham Regional Police, will attract over 100 disabled athletes as well as several guest athletes who have participated in the event over the last 10 years. The competition will be keen, with many old rivals returning to continue their competition," V HOCKEY says police spokesperson Staff Sergeant Sandy Ryrie. Competition will continue all day, highlighted by a wheelchair rugby match between the children and Durham police officers. Each child leaves the Games with a trophy, medal or other memento to remind them of their participation in the event. I was driving by and I noticed about 20 signs in a line, all about 10 feet apart, and they were all Ark E from the same person. That's a waste of paper, wood and other valuable resources. The civic elec- tions held recently are a perfect example. Only one-third of eligible voters actually went out to cast a ballot, but the other two- thirds are probably the ones who complain the loudest. If you're upset with the way your town is being run, then get off your lazy Every Friday, the News Advertiser's lnfosource will feature an Athlete of the Week or an Unsung Hero nominated by our readers. Do you know of a young hockey star who scored five goals, a rookie ringette play- er who stopped all shots on net to record a shutout or an adult who got himself off the couch for the first time in years to curl? If so, we want to know so we can tell the world. Or perhaps you know of a kind gentle- man down the street who's always willing to lend a hand to others or a teenager who car- ries shopping bags home for neighborhood senior citizens. Why not tell the rest of Ajax and Pickering? It's easy to nominate an Athlete of the Week or an Unsung Hero. Just read the box below. Do you have a local Athlete of the Week or Unsung Hero? FAX YOUR AGS 579-2238 THE NEWS ADVERTISER FRIDAY, NWEMBER 25.194 -PACE 27 J yINF(JR.MATION ON HO Party Productions offers, "no muss, no fuss, leave the work to us" By Beverly McFarlane For many of us, it's becoming harder to find time to do some of those important things our parents and grandparents used to do naturally. Recognizing this fact, Party Productions opened its doors for business, for the primary purpose of organizing parties for children of all ages - including those who arc considered adults. The Party Productions motto says it all: "No muss, no fuss, leave the work to us." Area residents will, this Sunday, have the opportunity to take a fust -hand look at the services this firm provides. That's because the Pickering business is hosting an open house funfair, complete with games and refreshments. When you hire the services of Party Productions, its team will decorate and set up the room, provide the food, and the entertainment, if you so desire. Or, you can simply rent their entire facilities and organize your own party (although they will still set up, and clean up after you've left). For a child's birthday party, you can choose to rent the room and have included specialty cake, all -beef hot dogs, beverage, potato chips, decorations, including helium balloons, games and face painting. There are other basic options with this firm. The fust option allows you simply to rent one of three rooms. This includes decorating, as well as set-up and clean-up by the Party Productions stall". For the smallest room, the cost for two hours is just $50. Still another option is the deluxe; an all-inclusive package which adds entertainment to the room rental, catering and decorating. Entertainment might be in the form of a clown or magtctan. For the room rental only, there is a full kitchen on site, whore you can prepare and store food. For functions with large numbers of people, the rooms can be opened up to accommodate the need. It's worth noting that the Party Productions team is extremely flexible. Not only will they allow the option of all- inclusive or self-catering, but particularly in terms of the children's parties, they will plan the environment or theme to suit the child's special interest. One recent party organized by this firm was for a seven- year-old boy who loves anything associated with space. Consequently, 'space' was the theme of this particular party, with the cake decorated as the solar system. A girl who is just becoming interested in cosmetics couild have a make-up party. Other theme examples might be Beauty and the Beast. Aladdin, or Lion Ding. Besides the customitcd parties and flexibility, what Party Productions offers over the typical children's restaurants is privacy, and a more leisurely pace. Your group needn't feel rushed. Aside from full-scale parties and room rentals for one-time functions, individuals or groups arc free to rent space for classes or other special group meetings. For example, out of their location, a floral designer offers instruction in floral design three mornings and afternoons during the week. The sessions arc aviilablc opn a 'pay as you go' basis, or discounted for prepaid sessions. If you arc planning to have an event for a child or adult, and would appreciate professional assistance at an economical rate, call Party Productions. Now Howes aaad Iuteeriors Nantucket is a unique community If New England -style homes appeal to you, then you should visit Nantucket, a community of condominium townhomes by Halminen Homes. This 92 -unit develop- ment in Courtice combines the rights of owning your own home with the bene- fits of living in a condo- minium. Nantucket offers three different townhome designs, but all will offer owners the advantages of both condominium living and private home owner- ship — Halminen Homes calls it "Extended Private C o n d o m i n i u m Ownership." You have freehold title to your home, including front and rear yard and/or side yard. The condominium corporation looks after all the interior roadways, side- walks, open spaces and other common grounds. As an owner, however, you have the right to participate in the man- agement and control of the condominium corporation. And you get all the benefits of condominium living for a low month- ly maintenance fee, under 550 per month. But Nantucket is not like any other townhouse community you haverever seen. Homes feature landscaping, two - car garages. Ras fireplaces, finished basements and many other features you would not expect to find in a condomini- um setting. The more traditional townhome lay- out, known as the Carriage Home Collection, offers buyers homes ranging from 1,377 square feet to 1,456 square feet. There are four styles of carriage homes from which to choose. All have single -car garages and feature an open - concept interior design. The Coach Home Collection is some- thing to see. Homes features include nine -foot ceilings ti ith transom win- dows, gas fireplaces, finished basement area, 3 1,'2 baths, butler's pantry and cedar terraces overlooking the Black Creek greenbelt area. Another unique feature of these homes is that all have two -car garages, which accessible from a rear lane. There are three designs of homes to choose from in the Coach Home Collection. Unique to Nantucket are three bunga- low designs, which offer the conve- nience of having the main features of a home on one level while enjoying the extra space provided by a two-storey home. The versatile designs in the Bungalow Collection all feature a loft, which is perfect for an office or den or can be used as a guest room. All the bun- galow designs feature nine -foot ceilings and a single -car garage. The kitchen and master bedroom open to a private inter- locking stone patio. Nantucket is beautifully located over- looking Black Creek and the surrounding greenbelt area. The natural beauty of the community is complimented by the amenities of the area, including ample shopping, school and recreation facilities and the close proximity to major com- muting routes. Home prices start at $124,990 for the Carriage Home Collection, $145,990 for the Coach Home Collection and S 154,990 for the Bungalow Collection. The sales office is located at the inter- section of Hwy. 2 and Courtice Rd. Sales office hours are 1 to K p.m. Monday to Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and I l a.m.Ito 6 p.m. on Sunday. The sales office is closed on Saturday. Call Brian Gahan or May Cone at 434-3696 for more infematation. In addition to choices such as the overall floorplan, kitchen layout, fin- ishes and flooring, you can select a range of products that will make your home more environmentally suitable. Many environmental choices will not only improve the comfort of your home, but will also save you money in the long run. Recent advances in window tech- nology have resulted in products which are far superior to those available in the past. High-performance window features include special coatings to reduce heat loss, insulating spacers between glass panes and inert gas fill - tures offer n payoff ing within the window itself. The result is reduced energy use, which is good for the environment, and lower heating bills and increased comfort, which are great for you. Good indoor quality is something everyone wants. When buying a new home, you can take advantage of today's technically -advanced, whole - house fresh -air systems. Ventilation units that include heat recovery arc the best choice and they cost surprisingly little. These are only two ways you can have a "green" home. A professional homebuilder can provide you with advice and guidance on environmental features that can be built into your new home. 1 ' s 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 TWI PACKAGE #1 PACKAGE #? An innovative computer software pro- gram, created by areas by Design of Woodbridge, produces a three Aimen- sional "virtual reality" walk-through of two of The Summit's most popular designs — the Highpointe and the .4enith — and offers a sneak preview of the Valleymede — Coscan's unique 'sunshine family room" home. Although no buildings have been erected on site, Coscan buvers can now enter through a front door, on a TV screen, and take a tour of a fully decorat- ed house all without leaving the sales centre. "Seeing a model home in this incredi- bly lifelike format is so much easier for buyers," says Michael Firestone, director of residential sales and marketing at Coscan. "Future homeowners don't have tp wait the months it takes to build and F decorate an actual model. With this tech- nology. they can visualize their new home right away." The use of computer assisted design (CAD) means that video walk-throughs of a house are just as detailed as real life. For example. the Highpointe tour fea- tures a fire flickering in the family room hearth while sunlight streams in through the Palladian window. Shadows on the wall move as you do, doors open and close. and spectacular views abound. "Computer animation is the wave of the future," says Frank Guido, president of Aareas by Design. "V1'e can now Clcnd live video footage with computer imagery, or superimpose animated hous- es onto a photo of an existing landscape. An -,thing is possible." Working with Coscan's architectural blueprints, Guido and his team input the correct measurements for each design, enabling the computer to build a mov- ing, three-dimensional version of the plans. Coscan designers then selected FROM PAGE t fo• inspection and there is a large sales pavilion where various layouts, "[elevations, artist's drawings and materials are on show. Hours are I p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and I1 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays. There will be 205 homes in The Woods of Oshawa Creek, including 86 townhomes also bordered by ,*onservation land. Styles and prices will be announced early in the new year. The Woods of Oshawa Creek is the ,,*result of Fernbrook Homes listening to people more than other builders, says Mr. Delnick. "We learned that people want great designs and to live in a community that's in harmony with a beautiful !qgnvironment, which they want protected so it can continue to be enjoyed and appreciated. 'That's why we're offering gas fi[replaces rather than wood -burning replaces, so there's no smoke or ash, and why we're building interceptor trenches along the property line so that runoff ivic aned before it enters the creek and the woodlands. "We've taken their dreams and I- turned them into reality. This development is something special." i details like cornice mouldings and win- dow treatments from Aareas by Design's library of more than 3,000 options. And, just like real model homes, video models are completely furnished with color co- ordinated sofas and chairs, chandeliers, plants and artwork. Prices for the full selection of home designs at the Summit start at S129,900 and sizes range from 990 to 2,001 square feet. For a video trek through the Summit's model house designs, visit the Harrowsmith sales centre located on Harmony Rd., just north of Rossland Rd. in Oshawa. The sales office is open Monday to Thursday from 1 to K p.m. and from l I a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The office is closed on Fridays.
