TORONTO 2, June 7, 1944.
To Principals and Teachers:
In the early hours of the allied landing Dw the
est of France, His Majesty Xing George W solemnly called
the people to prayer and dedication "that we may be worthily
matched with this new summers
of victory." You are urged to
Invite your pupils to unite in this vigil of prayer "that we
may be enabled tc do the will of God.^
It is suggested that the following prayer be said
daily in the schools of this Province, until the success of
the Allied lnvasion is assured, end thst the pupils be
reminded to join regul..rly in the prcyers for victory which
are being offered in cll the churchss in this critical period.
G. A. Drew,
Minister if Education.
Prayer
0 God, our refuge and strength, hear our prayer for
those Thy servants whom Thou beet called to tanks of greet
peril and of rich promise to mankind. Grant to them, we
beseech Thee, courage, steadfastness and theassuranaa that
Thy Spirit in them is stronger than steel or flame. Keep
them is life end death, sheltered within Thine arms. Keep
us faithful to o absent ones, and worthy of the sacrifices
which they are making on land, on ama and in the air. To
those charged with responsibility for the national guidance,
grant wisdom of leadership to achieve c mnlete victory and
to establish peace wd righteousness, truth and justice
throughout the world. This we ask, trusting in Thine infinite
mercy and compassion. Man.

Surae 7th, 1960.
Dear Mae Brown,
As I sm unfortunately unable to be with
you for the celebration of the Centennial of
Greenwood Public School I have asked my colleague,
the Honourable Michael Starr, to convey my warm
_ greetings to the past and present teachers and
students who are gathered for this memorable
occasion.
The days when my father taught at Greenwood,
_ and I had my first taste of school life, seem far
way now, but they are days which are remembered
by my mother, Elmer and me with fond affection.
My hope is that the high standards that
_ were set for the students of Greenwood in the daya
that are gone may continue to be aspired to by the
generations who w111 receive their early education
there Luring Its second hundred years.
To each and all I extend my kind regards.
_ I sm,
Yours sincerely,
Mira May E. Brown,
Greenwood,
Ontario.
