THE LAPPS ----- were Northern Scandavians, groups of whom would emigrate from their native Lapland to the coastal areas. The North American family apparently stemmed from a group who had settled in Hambourg, Germany, and had joined with the Swiss Mennoites, coming with them to the American Continent. JOHN LAPP ----- born 1708, died in Pennsylvania 1793. His family were Mennonites, and came to the American Continent in the Pink "" THE MARY "", which sailed from Rotterdam via Plymouth, England, arriving in Philadelphia September 29th. 1735. He settled in Bucks Co. Penn., and became the progenitor of the Lapp family in North America. JEREMIAH LAPP ----- grandson of the above, in 1796 was a soldier of the Pennsylvania Loyalists, and came to Canada when they fled, just before the American Revolution. He was named among the roll of inhabitants of Midland District in the Province of Upper Canada who adhered to the Unity of the Empire and joined the Royal Standard of Separation in 1785. He settled in or near Kingston, his family having land in Hamilton township. A full genealogy and comprensive history of the Lapp family is now being compiled by MR. J. H. LAPP, Sunset Boulevard, Ottawa. contributed by: - MRS. JOHN A. CUYLER, WOODFIELD RD., TORONTO, ONTARIO. 1968 " "2. HENRY LAPP of Markham, Ontario.
