To the Municipal Council of theCorporation of Pickering The petition of the Undersigned, duly qualified Electors, Humbly Sheweth: That having read the Petition of the Pickering Harbor Company (Limited) hereunto prefixed, and approving as we do, of the more liberal terms upon which the said Company has agreed to meet the loan for which they have applied to your Council, as compared with their proposal in By Law lately submitted, and being earnestly desirious of mantaining and improving the works of the said Company, and aiding the said Company in the manner proposed, by way of loan, which in its amounts and terms we consider a safe sound and profitable investment for the Township of Pickering. We therfore pray your Honorable Council to sumit for the approval of the qualified Electors of the Township of Pickering a ByLaw to aid and assist the said The Pickering Harbor Company (limited) by way of loan to the extent of Twenty thousand dollars on the security by deposits with your Treasurer of the full amount of Twenty five Thousand dollars of the said Company which they are authorized to issue. "Photocopy of Canadian Statutes, chapter 67, pages 33 to 37. An Act to incorporate the Pickering Harbour Company (Limited) and to authoize it to collect tolls. And your petitiones will ever pray." Ascented to 27h April 1877."
