HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-01438"CENTENNIAL WEEKEND IN PICKERING JULY 1 & 2 Plan Now to Celebrate Canada's 100th Birthday in Pickering Township and Village The Township of Pickering and Pickering Village will be cooperating to celebrate our Centennial with a Dominion Day weekend of many memorable events. Listed here are a number of the major activities. Save this page for future reference and watch your newspaper for final details. But be sure to be on hand to enjoy the birthday party that Pickering has planned for you and your family. SPORTS EVENTS SATURDAY, JULY 1 PICKERING VILLAGE PARK Prizes in every event. Crests for every competitor. A full sports programme will begin at 10:30 a.m. with 66 events and representation from all schools in the area. BANDS and DRILL TEAMS Following the Parade, the award-winning Pickering Blue Notes Band and their special guests, The Imperial Knights Colour Guard from Midland Park, New Jersey, will entertain at the Pickering Village Park. ARTS and CRAFTS DISPLAYS An exhibit of arts and crafts made by individuals and groups of individuals will be displayed in Pickering High School over the Centennial weekend, July 1 and 2. Prizes will be awarded to the best individual and group entries. Bay Ridges Plaza Dancing under the stars to the music of the popular ""Sapphires"" BUS TOURS See the many sides of Pickering Township on a sightseeing bus tour.
