from Greenwood Village to Duffin's Creek, signed and dated at Greenwood Village,
December 9, 1864.
"To the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering Public Library
I have the honor to Report, That at the request of Daniel Geddes and others,
I have surveyed a proposed line of Road from the Village of Greenwood in rear of the
5th Concession of the Township of Pickering, through lot No. 12 in the said 5th concession,
lot 12 in the 4th concession and the north half of lot 12 in the 3rd concession to the allowance for
the road between lots No 12 and 13 in the said 3rd concession, which said proposed line may
be more particularly as follows. That is to say Commencing on the northern limit of the said lot
No 12 in the 5th Concession, at the distance of 63 links from the north east angle thereof,
and resuming thence S.16 degrees E 3 chains and 96 links: Thence S. 12 degrees E. 4 chains
and 56 links: Thence S. 23 Degrees E, 5 chains and 94 links: Thence S. 6 degrees
W.10 chains and 90 links: Thence S.6 degrees 12 chains and 87 links: Thence S. 1 degree
W. 6 chains and 50 links to the centre of the said concession: Thence S. 16 degrees E. 50
chains more or less parallel to the Eastern limit of the said lot, to the front of the said concession:
Thence S.!6 degrees E. parallel to the Eastern limit of lot No 12 in the 4th Concession 14 chains
and 80 links: Thence S. 42 degrees E. 16 chains and 46 links more of less to the Eastern limit
of the said lot: Thence S. 16 degrees E on the said limit 70 chains and 40 links more or less to
the front of the said concession 4th Concession: Thence Commencing at the north east angle of
lot No 12 in the 3rd Concession and running thence S. 16 degrees S. on the eastern limit of the
said lot, 19 chains and 88 links: Thence S. 39 degrees 30 minutes 24 W. 24 chains and 40 links
more or less to the eastern limit of the allowance for Road between lots No 12 and 13.
The said Road to be one chain wide, except one chain from the place of Commencement in rear
of the 5th Concession which will be only 40 feet. The above described line to be the Eastern
limit of the said Road.
That a good Road can be made on the said line at a very moderate expense, there being no
expension cutting of bridging required. That it would form a direct Road from the Mill at
Greenwood to the Duffin’s Creek Station on the Grand Truck Railway with very easy grades,
avoiding the long and steep grades on the Road not travelled, as will as materially shortening
the distance,
And that a Road cannot be mad on this allowance for Road between lots No 12 and 13 through
the 5th and 4th concessions, and north part of the 3rd Concession, for any reasonable amounts
of money.
I would therefore respectfully recommend that the said proposed Road be established as a
public Highway: and that the allowance for Road between lots No 12 and 13 be granted to the
parties through whose land the proposed Road runs, in the line thereof
All which is respectfully submitted.
