To the facts Of the corporation of the
Township of Pickering.
As requested 1 have made a survey and measurements of that part of
the road allowance on the front of lot 13 in the first concession, and
also of that part of what In known as T. Tflns creek, which runs paral-
lel thereto sed creases the said road allowance, and 1 find that the
road ocoupiea and passes through the flats of the creek to the extent
of from 72b to POJ feet.
That occasionally this 1Wrt of the road is flooded by the water
that comes Gown the creak to the depth of four feet, that renders i.
almost Impassible and unsafe for the residents in the locality to man.
That 1 also examined the old bridge, which at the present time spans
the creek; it 1s 66 feet In length and 16 feet in width; that the two
longitadnel stringers that support it I consider uneafe, as they
would not, in q, opinion, hear or carry the weight of an eight or ten
ton traction engine and threshing imSfit machine.
That when a new bridge is not tip. I reoomsend a steel bridge with
span of 1^1 feet, resting on cement and concrete butments. A bridge
of 100 feat span is required in this place on account of the great
quantit: of water that is brought down by the creek and its branches,
come Of wh. oh is from the. Horth end of the Township; that the small
bridge Or culvert at the went aide of the flats is of no use, and ma,
be filled np.
%ith this Teport I submit a Plan and Pmfils , which will show the
relative positions of the road, creek and bridge.
I remain
