In partnership with Royal Canadian Legion Branches 606 and 258, the City
of Pickering relocated the cenotaph previously located at Altona Road and
Sheppard Avenue to its new location adjacent to the existing cenotaph at the
Pickering Civic Complex.
The Civic Complex is an ideal location for the cenotaph as it is much more
centralized and accessible with significantly higher pedestrian traffic. More
importantly, it will give the monument a much higher profile in the community
which it rightfully deserves. The cenotaph was moved in place just in time for
Sunday, June 5th, when the Royal Canadian Legion held its D-Day Parade at
the Civic Complex."
