Rebels Remembered: On April 12, 1838, local residents Peter Matthews of Pickering and
Samuel Lount were hanged for participating in the1837 Rebellion. Last Monday
descendents of these martyrs, including George Lount of Toronto and Richard Matthews of
Michigan, attended the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the Necropolis
Cemetery in Toronto"
