HILDA MITCHELL Pickering Village and district was shocked last Wednesday to learn of the sudden passing of Mrs. Hilda Mitchell. She died suddenly in her home. She was in her 56th year. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Toronto, the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Morrison. She came to Pickering as a young girl and until her marriage lived with her family at the corner of Valley Farm Rd. and the Second Concession. She received her education at Pickering and Whitby schools. Following her marriage to Arthur Mitchell, who predeceased her in 1955, she moved to Pickering Village, where she has resided ever since. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Pickering United Church, president of the Afternoon W.A. and a member of the W.M.S. She had held various church offices in the past and served on numerous committees. She was a Past Matron of the Ontario Chapter, OES. Mrs. Mitchell will be very much missed from this community. Her friendly personality was always the same and she never turned anyone down when they asked her to take on a job, no matter how large it was. She is survived by two brothers Frank H. of Hamilton, and George Norman of Toronto. Ontario Chapter, OES, held a special service on Friday evening. The regular funeral service was held Saturday in the United Church with Rev. M Buttars officiating. Interment was in Erskine Cemetery. "
