Claremont Public School in north Pickering is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a school reunion on Saturday, May 1. The all-day event will offer the opportunity to visit the school, mingle with old friends and take a trip down memory lane in the classrooms decorated by decade. There'll be a barbecue luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and a dinner and dance beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Claremont Community Centre. It's $12 for both or $5 for just the dance starting at 9 p.m. Tickets will be available in March at the school. The anniversary organizing committee is welcoming any nostalgia items they can borrow for the day. To help raise money for the anniversary, the school is offering a set of eight nostalgia prints portraying Claremont of old for $50. They're on display at the community centre. Also available are 'hasty notes' depicting the school, sketched by Dorothy Cook, at $12 for a package of eight. Call Sandy Hill at 649-2653 to order. For more information on the anniversary celebrations call Heather Stuart or Andrea Wannikhof at 649-2000. "
