Built in 1842, this is one of the two oldest homes in Pickering Village. Many of the original
features remain, such as the wainscotting in the kitchen, the pine floors in the living room,
large baseboards and passage doors. Built for a relative of Captain Matthews, subsequent
residents included the postmaster, Mr. Logan and local merchant, James Richardson.
This house is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.
