Mr. McNab ably filled the post of chairman. The band played one selection, then the orchestra, composed of local talent began their dulcet strains and played their whiz bang, slap dash music in their most brilliant style. The comic singer Mr. Bennett, treated the audience to some very laughable songs and that the gathering fully appreciated them was attested to by the encores of those present. Mr. Spofford whose fame as a good organist is well known, accompanied the singer. Interspersed with the music, the Pickering troupe gave the drama of "The Last Loaf" in which the different characters ably sustained their various parts, and while listening to the big words, the high flown language of the baker, the stuttering protestations of love of the butcher, who appeared somewhat mercenary in his wooing, we concluded to strongly advise those who had never seen that play, to make every possible effort to do so at the earliest opportunity. Long life to the Claremont Brass Band.
