School By mutual agreement of the Pickering Village Public School Board and the Pickering Village Library Board, the present contract between the two, to house the library in the old Church St. N. school building, is to be cancelled, as of October 31, this year, and tenders will be called for, for the demolition of the old school. The Library will be housed in a classroom of the Lincoln St. Public School, for the sum of $1.00 with the understanding the library will vacate by next August 30. The old school, a landmark here for many years, had, the front two rooms constructed in 1888, and later, two classrooms were added at the rear which, served for many years as a ""Continuation School"". The building was condemned some years ago. Because of damage to the library ceiling, due to seepage, it was felt by the Board, that it was time to terminate the present agreement with the library. The Board has agreed to sell a piece of the old school land on Church St. to the Library for $1.00, to erect a new library, or even, a portable libnary. Tenders for the demolition of the old school building will close on November 1. "
