HomeMy WebLinkAbout1384Obituary photocopied from the Pickering News, March 7, 1947, page 1.Ann Eliza Bryan Pickering's Oldest Resident Dies.Pickering's oldest resident, in the person of Mrs. Ann Eliza Bryan passed away here on February 28. She was in her 97th year.Born in Pennsylvania, she came to Canada as a girl, with her parents. They lived in Markham for a few years, them moved to Pickering Twp., living in various parts until they moved to the village. Her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Bolton Banks, passed away many years ago. She worked for a number of years in a dentist's office in Chicago, then back to Pickering when she married the late Edward Bryan. They farmed north of the village, and later purchased the former "Logan" store at the corner of No. 2 and Elizabeth St. Mr. Bryan passed away about fourteen years ago. She was a member of the former Methodiist Church and was active in her own home until one year ago. She is survived by three brothers: Lorenzo Banks, of this place, Fred, of Richmond Hill and Ernest, of New York City. Two brothers: William and DeForest predeceased her some yeas ago.Funeral service was held on Monday, from McEachnie Funeral Home, with Rev. R.C. Copeland, officiating. Interment at Erskine Cemetery.Due to the storm and roads, the burial service coud not be carried out that day.
