HomeMy WebLinkAbout1351Photocopy of an obituary for Patrick Joseph Teefy from the Pickering News, March 7, 1924, page 1.Patrick Joseph TeefyAn old pioneer and Fenian Raid Veteran of Pickering Township passed away at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. James King, Pickering, on Monday, March 3rd, in the person of Patrick Joseph Teefy. Mr Teefy was born in County Tipperary, Ireland in 1839, coming to Canada in 1852 and settling in Pickering Township , whre he resided until his death. Deceased was an Independednt in politics and a staunch Roman Catholic. He married Alice Curtiss, of Co. Kildare, Ireland, who predeceased him eight years ago. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. John Dwyer, one son and eight daughters. One of the especially marked traits of Mr. Teefy was his familiarity with the early history of Toronto. Some of the writer's happiest hours were spent in hearing him relate stories of the early 60's. He simply abound in stories of Toronto's early history. He helped build the first railroad running from Toronto to Montreal. His familiar figure will be missed in Pickering Village.
