dated March 8, 1924, page 8, column 2.On Sunday afternoon George Stephenson passed away
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bruce Conner, of the base line, with whom he has been living
since the death of his wife three years ago. The deceased had been feeling poorly for the past
week of two, and on Friday took a turn for the worse, pneumonia having set in. Mr. Stepenson,
who was in his 76th year, was a life-long resident of this township, and engaged in farming in
different parts of the township. He had a family of seven sons and two daughters, all of whom
survive him. They are John T. of Pickering, Wm. G. of Detroit, Mich., Joseph L. of the 5th
concession, Simon of East Toronto, Shadrick of the Brock road, Mrs. Fowler of Whitby,
Oscar of Pickering, Mrs. Bruce Conner of the base line, Cephas of Pickering.
The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, when interment took place in Salem cemetery.
