McCarthy (To the News by Audley Corr.)whose funeral took place at Pickering on Monday morning last, was until recently a life-long resident of this community. He left his farm here a few years ago to live with his sister Mrs. O'Loane, of Toronto where he passed peacefully away in his chair on Friday evening. He was a son of the late Daniel and Anna McCarthy, pioneer residents of Lot 6, in the 4th concession, now occupied by Basil Churchyard. Deceased was never married. He was one of a family of six, only the eldest of whom is now living. Two sisters, Laura and Kate, and two brothers, Timothy and Daniel, just through his medical course, predeceased him. At his funeral, the Requiem Mass was sung by Father Jack O'Loane, nephew, who in his school days, spent all his summers at the farm here, where he was a general favourite with all. Frank was of a jovial and happy disposition, who would never refuse anyone a request for help. He always took a keen interest in all local activities and served for over twenty years as a school trustee and was Sectetary-Treasurer for ten. Many of his friends had not heard of his decease, but among those from here who attended the funreal, were: Richard Squire, Gordon Smith, who lived with him for several years, and F.M. Chapman and George West. Deceased was in his 85th year.We also note the passing of W..J. McDonald, in Toronto, a former resident here. He has been lately living in Toronto.
