Dear Sir: The Te Pee Fire The volunteers of the Pickering and Brougham Fire Departments, and other volunteers who assisted them did a wonderful job, indeed, in saving furnishings, etc. after the high wind whipped the fire into an inferno. Unfortunately, in my shock, and the consequent daze, I did not secure the names to personally thank them. I therefore write to you to ask an assistance—that my thanks be conveyed to them through the medium of your paper. Their efforts in salvage, and protecting the salvage, will enable us to proceed forthwith with reconstruction. An especial thanks is due to the Pickering Police, who took charge in my absence, and indeed, after my arrival, and who cared for Mrs. Jones; thus keeping her from possible suffocation in her desire to rush back into the building to save some personal items. It is my sincere hope that you will publish my thanks for I know of no other way to reach these splendid fellows, who, without hope of gain, reached out to help me in my need. L. W. Jones"
