DUNBATON.
It is seldom that we are called upon to chronicle a more affecting circumstance than
that which took place in our village on the morning of Friday, the 6th inst., in the death
of Mrs. Dales, the beloved wife of Dr. Dales. Mrs. Dales, who was born in Zephyr,
on August 8th, l862, was the daughter of Mr. Thursk, of Uxbridge, and from her
earliest years it was manifest that she was possessed of a very amiable and winning
disposition. For two years she was engaged as a teacher in the town of Uxbridge,
where she was universally esteemed by teachers and scholars alike.
She was married on Oct. 9th, 1884, and in the spring of last year,
came with her husband to reside in this village, where her general kindness
and attractive manner won for her the esteem and affection of all with whom she
came in contact, and when it became known on Friday morning that an all-wise
Providence had called her away the grief was universal, but we bow to His will.
Mrs. Dales in early life gave her heart to the Saviour and connected herself with His
church, of which at her death she was a consistent and zealous member.
The funeral took place on Sabbath last and was one of the largest ever seen in this
locality. When the procession arrived at Uxbridge a large concourse of people had
gathered at the cemetery where the body was laid in the grave, after which service
was conducted in the Presbyterian Church there, by the Rev. R. M. Craig of this place.
Mrs. Dales leaves two children, a boy and a girl, who are but two weeks old.
The bereaved husband has the sympathy of all in this the hour of his sore trial.
