The service was attended by a large number of old friends and relatives from near and far. Returning home from a business trip to Ottawa on Wednesday evening he complained of being unwell, and during the night his illness became critical and he was rushed to the Oshawa Hospital where he passed away early Thursday morning while in an oxygen tent, a victim of thrombosis. Mr. Bunting was a member of one of Pickering;s old families, his grandfather, the late Brereton Bunting, comint to Canada from Ireland one hundred years ago. Fred's grandfather and his father were both leading figures in the life of this village, in their own time. Fred continued the store and post office following the death of his father, till he sold out. He later was a probation office with the City of Toronto. He held a responsible post with a construction company on the Alaska Highway, but we think he enjoyed life more during the past few years in some thing he really liked doing- an enthusiastic horticulturist, he applied his knowledge and experiences to his work with Downham Nurseries, using colooed photography ain sales promotion, taht proved so successful under his guidance.Surciving are his wodow, the former Vern Burlings, two sons. William of Orono, and Jack at home, and an only sister Eva, at Ajax. The family had were packed and ready to move to Strathroy where Fred would be closer to their main office. Interment was made in Erskine Cemetery here. We understand Mrs. Bunting is to remain at Ajax for present.
