Mansfield, who passed away in Oshawa General Hospital, on Thursday morning last. He was 71. Mr. Mansfield was widely known in the Pickering area.In his early days he sailed as a member of the crew of G.H. Gooderham's racing yachts. Keenly interested in sports and sailing, he donated the first cup presented to the Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club.A son of the late Thomas Mansfield, who operated the store at the Bay, he also ran a store there until his retirement four years ago, when he moved to Dunbarton.He was a member of the Doric Lodge A.F. and A.M. and of St. George's Anglican Church. During his years of retired life he took a great deal of interest in his home and gardens.Surviving are: his widow the former Sadie Nicholson; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Platt and Mrs. Arthur G. Simpson of Toronto.Services were held from the home with Rev. E.G. Robinson officiating. Interment at Erskine Cemetery.
