HOW TO MAKE FERTILIZER
PAY MORE
THERE'S no secret to getting more
profits from your fertilizer investment.
It's simply a matter of following a sound
fertility program that fits the particular
needs of your crop and soil, and the
proper application of a plant food cap-
able of returning high yields at low cost
per acre.
Countless thousands of farmers in all
parts of the country consistently make
their fertilizer pay more by following
just such a fertilization program — the
Agrico Program. They rely on the people
at Agrico to help them use plant foods
wisely and profitably . . . to help them
take the "guesswork" out of fertilizing.
They have their soil tested by the Agrico
Soil Service. Then, with the facts on
the fertility level of their fields at hand,
and with the help of Agrico fieldmen,
they follow the sound, practical liming
and fertilizing recommendations made by
experienced Agrico agronomists in an
Agrico soil test report.
When it comes to buying fertilizer,
they're after quality plant foods that
will produce extra yields at harvest. To
them, results, not profit, are more im-
portant than fertilizer cost. So they
look to AGRICO, which may cost a little
more, for its proven crop -feeding effi-
ciency — the power to give them higher
yields at less cost per acre.
You can start on the road to bigger
yields and profits now. Join the farmers
who are making more money with ferti-
lizer the Agrico way. See your Agrico

FUNCTION OF PLANT NUTRIENTS
Nitrogen —Gives plants healthy green
color. Promotes rapid growth of leaves,
stems and fruit or seed. Improves
quality of leaf crops.
Phosphorus — Stimulates root growth.
Gives plants rapid, vigorous start. In-
creases flower and seed formation. In-
creases ratio of grain and fruit to stalk.
Hastens maturity. Promotes winter -hardi-
ness in grains and legumes. Aids nitro-
gen utilization.
Potash — Increases plant vigor and dis-
ease resistance. Produces strong, stiff
stalks. Increases plumpness of grain and
seed. Essential for formation and trans-
fer of starches, sugars and oils. Increases
winter -hardiness of legumes and other
crops.
Calcium —Improves plant vigor and stiff-
ness of straw. Regulates uptake of other
plant foods. Promotes grain and seed
production.
Magnesium — Helps maintain healthy
green color in leaves. Regulates uptake
of other plant foods. Acts as carrier of
phosphorous. Promotes formation of oils
and fats. Aids in movement of starch.
Sulphur — Helps maintain healthy green
color. Promotes nodule formation in
legumes. Stimulates seed production.
Encourages vigorous plant growth, es-
pecially roots. Aids formation of pro-
teins and oils.
