THE OLD RUGGED CROSS
On a hill far away,
Stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame,
And I love that old cross..
Where the dearest and best,.
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
So Itll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down,
I will cling to the old rugged cross.
And exchange it some day for a crown.

Sometimes 'mid scenes of deepest
gloom,
Sometimes where Eden's bowers
bloom,
By waters calm, over troubled sea,
Still. 'tis His hand that lead-
eth me.
Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in
mine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine,
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since Itis my God that leadeth me.
And when my task on earth is done,
When by ''hy grace the victory's
won,
Even death's cold wave I will not
flee,
Since God through Jordan lead.eth
me.
HYMN nnp
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
0 what peace we often forfeit,
0 what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,.
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness:
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy -laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge!
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake
thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer,
In His arms He'll take and shield
thee;
Thou wilt find a solace there.
HYMN 376
Blestbe the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.
Before our Father's throne
We pour our ardent prayers:
Our fears, our hopes, our aims
are one,
Our comforts and our cares.
376
We share each other's woes,
Each other's burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.
When for a while we part,
This thought will soothe our
pain,
That we shall still be joined
in heart
And one day meet again.
One glorious hope revives
Our courage by the way;
While each in expectation lives
And longs to see the day.
When from all toil and pain
And sin we shall be free,
And perfect love and friendship
reign
Through all eternity.

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful -
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings, -
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings.
The purple -headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset, and the morning
That brightens up the sky,
The cold wind in the winter.
The pleasant summer Bun,
The ripe fruits in the garden, -
He made them every one.
The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
We gather every day, -
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.
HYMN C-181
Unto the hills around do I lift
up
My longing eyes:
0 whence for me shall my salv-
ation come,
From whence arise?
From God the lord doth come my
certain aid,
From God the Lord who heaven
and earth hath made.
681
He will not suffer -that thy foot be
moved:
Safe shalt thou be.
No careless slumber shall His eye-
lide close,.
Who keepeth thee.
Behold, He sleepeth not, He
slumbereth ne'er,
Who keepeth Israel in His holy
care.
Jehovah is Himself thy keeper true,
Thy changeless shade;
Jehovah thy defence on thy right
hand
Himself hath made.
And thee no sun by day shall ever
smite;
No moon shall harm thee in the
silent night.
From every evil shall He keep thy
soul,
From every sin:
Jehovah shall preserve Thy going
out,
Thy- coming in.
Above thee watchingk He whom we
adore
Shall keep thee henceforth, yea,
for evermore.

0 God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home:
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone,
Short as the watch tt ends the
night
Before the rising sun.
Time, like an ever -rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
0 God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles
last,
And our eternal home.

HYMN 23
When _ all. Thy mercies, 0 my God,
My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I'm
lost
In wonder, love., and praise.
0 how shall words, with equal
warmth,
The gratitude declare
That glows within my ravished
heart?
But Thou canst read it there.
Teh thousand thousand precious
gifts
My daily thanks employ;
Nor is the least a cheerful heart
That tastes these gifts with joy.
When worn with sickness, oft
hast Thou
With health renewed my face;
And, when in sins and sorrows
sunk,
Revived my soul with grace.
Through every period of my life
Thy goodness I'll pursue;
And after death, in distant
worlds,
The glorious theme renew.
When nature fails, and day and
night
Divide Thy works no more,
My ever -grateful heart, 0 Lord,
Thy- mercy shall adore.
HYMN 10
Now thank we all our God,
With heart, and hands, and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices;
Who from our mother's arms
Hath blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours to -day.
0 may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us;
And keep us in His Grace,
And guide us when perplexed,
And free us from all ills
In this world and the next.
All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Him who reigns
With them in highest heaven.
The one eternal God,
Whom earth and heaven adore;
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore,
