Staff at the Vanedward office in Port Perry will offer regular counter service right up until the shutdown, but officials say phone lines will be switched to a call centre in Guelph beginning Thurs- day. "It will be business as usual until the clow of business at 5 p.m.." said Chris- tine Dukelow, a director of client ser- vices with the Ontario Ministry of Agri- culture, Food and Rural Affairs. OMAFRA is closing 29 field offices across southern Ontario as part of a re- structuring program the ministry says will serve agribusinesses better. Instead of directing money into things like rent, heat and office supplies, the ministry says it plans to instead invest in devel- oping leading-edge information for its clients. Minister Ernie Hardeman made the announcement in December. A ten- tative closure date was later slated for the end of April to allow field office employees to interview for 70 new "provincial specialist" positions. Ms. Dukelow said some of those in- terviews arc still taking place. but agri- cultural organizations were sent letters last Tuesday advising them of the April 20 shutdown. The general public are being told as they come into the office. she said. As for the eight advisers and other staff who have manned the Vanedward office. Ms. Dukelow said "a number have successfully competed for posi- tions in the new system. while a few arc investigating other ,Thons" For more int rnuuron. ,ontacr the Agncultural Intorm.ni r tre at 1-877-424- I ;( site at www 8,r`.n NEWS ADVERTISER, WEDNESDAY EDITION, April 19, 2000 PARTE 911 NP Death Notice Listings For Audio Version on can -rent deaths 683-3005 You are not jorgonen loved one Nor will you ever he: A. lung as life and memory last We will remember thee. April 17. 1999 One year has gone since we last touched. A hug I've come to cherish so much. you had dreams and goals. And places to go. Who could have imaginer) It would not be so. Broken dreams lie shattered Like shards of glass. So much potential, gone so fast. The heart with time can learn to bend. But a broken heart will never mend. All that 1 believed would be. Is now only a memory. Always loved and forever in my heart. Mom written by Jenn and her friend Cadena - October. 1997. There's a universe in your head. And dreams and notions. Stars and movements. and beating hearts. All find their meaning. through your eyes. You define them. They don't define you. You impart the motivation. And attribute the reason. You 'sing' yourself. You are the grass and the wind. You are the sky. and You are the ground you s.:tlk on. You are the chikl. and You are the mother. You are the okier sister. and You are the brother. You sing best the song of yourself. And you write the tune. 'ticarch within yourself and believe In what you find. You won't be disappointed.' To My Daughter Jenn, You were on top of the workl that final day. Excited that your newly formed band was going to play. Singing a song that you had wrote. 1'11 always remember that day and the words you spoke. As 1 watched you drive away with your friends, Who would of thought that meeting was our end. What went so wrong? How coukl it he. You were at a party. perhaps too careless and free. We'll never know your final thoughts, But 1 do know this. your family loved you. loved you lots. 1 can only hope that others can now see. Turn around. envision the future. an/ where they will he. Rest in peace Jenn. For you will forever remain just seventeen. Love forever and until we meet again.
