13 and 14, Con 7, abom 1845. Soon after a carding mill was built, which did
good service for many years, being later sold to Demerits J. Wilson)' [Ira Boyer

P270: George Middleton settled on Lot 13, Can. 7, in 1854, where he spent the
remainder of his lif. His wife died In 1895, and he in 1903 at are age of 86
Their family of an children are all still (1911) living. They are James, John and
Richard H., who live in the township of Fins, Mary (Mrs. Cousin, I.ot 14, Con.
7), Jane (Mm Burgess), Elizabeth (Mrs. Usher), Matilda (Mrs. Story), George
(Lot 13, Con. 7), Hannah (Mrs. Gibson) and William (Lot 10, Con. S.

P. 58: George Middleton came to Canada from England in 1834 at the age of
twelve. In 1855 he purchased a fans owned by his cousin, Robert Middleton, on
the rem of Concession 7, Pickering Township (Lot 13).
George Middleton married Maria Horsley. They had ten childrem lames, John,
Richard H., Mary (Mrs. Gauslin), Jane (Mrs. Burgess), Elizabeth (Mrs. Usher),
Matilda (Mrs. Story), George Jr., Borrow (Mrs. Gibson), and William.
George Middleton Sr. died in 1903 at the age of eighty-aix. His wife lied in 1895.
The original "Middleton" farm was carried on by George Jr. He married
Georgina Barnes. Theirfamily were George, John%ad Ada. John Middleton now
ns the farm (Lot 13, Con. 7) his grandfather bought in 1855. John married
Jessie Bee1Ly (Loc 10, Con. 5) in 1939.

In 1908 George Sr. and Mada's youngest son, William Middferoq purchased a
farm at Greenwood (Lot 10, Con. 6) from Robert Cowan. Ito original owner was
the Hon. John Intraday. It had been owned by William McKiurick for many
years.
William Middleton's family includes: farcy, Edna (Mrs. Russell Philip), Alice
(deceased), Herbert, Elva (Mrs. Kenneth Elson), Howard (died when an infant).
Elva and Ken Eisen have their home in Greenwood village. They have three
children—Wayne, Virginia, and Lamy Kevin.
Herbert Middleton married Doreen Whalen in 1941 They live on the farm at
Greenwood (Lot 10, Con. 6). They have a family of fcurchildren —Herb. Jr.,
Breads, Howard and Allan.

Deal:
I give, devise and bequenth all my Real and Personal Esme, of which 1 may die possessed of or
interested in, in the meaner following, that is to say: To my son, James Middleton, I will and
devise all and singular that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate lying and being in
the Township of Flus in the County of Simcoe and Province of Ontario containing fifty acres
more or las being composed of the South West quarter of Lot number nineteen in the LYRh
Concession of the said Township of Flos, to have and to hold to my said son lama Middleton
for and during to term of his natural life and on to death of my said son lama Middleton my
will is that to said South West quarter of lot number nineteen in to Firm Concession of the
Township of Flus be sold and to proceeds of such sale to be equally divided amongst his
children.
To my son John Middleton f will and devise all and singular that cenaln panel at tract of lend
and premises situate lying and being in the Township of Fk a in to County of Simcoe and
Province of Ontario containing seventy five acres mme or less being composed of the dust half
of the South westerly one hundred and fifty acres of lot number six in the Tenth
^ Concession of the said Township of Has to have and to hold to my said son John Middleton for
and during the term of his natural life. Should he have no children and on the death of my said
son John Middleton my will is that the said property hereinbefore devised to him be.sold and to
proceeds of such sale to be divided equally among all my children, but in the event or my said
son John Middleton having children and that they or he or she should survive him then in such
case devise the said property to his child or children.
To my son George Middleton I will amt devise to north sixty acres of the north half of Lot
umber dill in We seventh Concession of the Township of Pickering in the County of
Ontario and province of Ontario to have and to hold m my said son George Middleton to him and
to his heirs and assigns forever subject to the payment of fire money hereinafter mentioned.
To my son William Middleton I will and devise the sent forty acus of the north half or lot
umber Thirteen in the Seventh concession of Ne Township of Pickering and the South
a est part of the North half of lot number Twelve in the Seventh concession of the Township
of Pickering in the County of Onmdo and province of Combo containing twenty acres to have
and to hold tu my said son William Middleton to Nm and to his heirs and assigns forever subject
m the payment of the money hereinafter mentioned. My said sons George Middleton and

the sum of three hundred dollars to be paid at to expiration of one year after my death, Ne sum

To my daughters Mary Gosling, Jane Burgess, Muslims Story and Hannah Gibson, I will and
bequeath the sum of two hundred dollars each. said two hundred dollars to be paid to my said
daughters as my said sons George Middleton and William Middleton pay the said several .sums
to my executors each payment to be divided equally among my said daughters at the time of
payment.
Should my said son John Middleton leave children surviving then in such case the said children
shall pay the sum of fifteen hundred dollars, said fifteen hundred dollars to be equally divided
among my four daughters hereinbefore mentioned.
Should 1 sell or dispose of any of the real property mentioned in this my will, the dispositions
and bequests herein to remain in full force with regards to the remainder or unsold part of my
cause. To my sons George Middleton and William Middleton I will and bequeath my farming
stock and implements to be equally divided between them.
^ To my daughter Elvebeth Usher and my son Richard Middleton I will and bequeath the sum
of one dollar each,
And 1 nominate and appoint my sons John Middleton and Richard Middleton and my son-in-law
Robert Storey to be executors of this my Inst Will and Testament.

Death has again removed one of our ablest residents in the person of Geo. Sdiddletoo, at the age
of 86 years and 6 days. His death look piece on Water, Jan. E60, after only two days illness
fmm pneumonia. His frmarel back place on Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, when, alter
service being held at Salem church, his remains were inleved in the adjoining cemetery. The
deceased was a native of Yorkshire, England, but has been a resident of this country for about 73
years. He settled with his parents in the Gore of Toronto, but moved to Picketing township
about 46 years ago, where he has resided ever since. He was one of the old landmarks of the
unstable and few now living have witnessed more changes in the country than he. He was
highly respected by all who knew him as was testified by the large number who followed his
mems to their ast resting place. His wife died seven years ago, but he leaves to mourn his
death five sons and five daughters all of whom are barred.

Deadt of George Middleton
On Thursday, Too. 4s, George Middleton, beloved husband of Georgina Barnes, died at his late
residence on the seventh concession of Pickering after an illness of only three days. There
remains to mourn his dead, a loving wife, two sons and a daughtr, also two brothers and three
sisters, Richard Middleton, of Elinvale, Wm. Middleton, of Greenwood, Mrs. Usher and Mrs.
Story, of Elmvale, and Mrs. Gibson, of Medellin. The high esteem in which the deceased was
held was shown by numerous Float gifts and the large gathering of friends and relatives who
attended the funeral on Sunday aftemoon when the remains were laid to rest in Salem Cemetery,
Rev. Mr, Leigh, of Greenwood, officiating. The widow and famdy add mandible friends have
the deepest sympathy of the community in then sad bereavement.
