The Field house, 132 Kingston Rd. W. was built in 1856 by George Washington Post II.
His father owned and operated the Post Inn further east on Kingston until his death in 1837.
The house was sold at auction to Tom Field in 1893. Arthur Field, grandson of Tom,
lived in the house for many years. He was a photographer and is remembered for his
pictures of the local farms expropriated by the Canadian government for Defence Industries
Limited during the Second World War. The house remained with the family until it was sold in
1987. It was successfully incorporated into the Post Hill complex at Chapman Drive and Kingston
and is used as a recreation facility for seniors.
