Cemetery Centennial
On Sunday, June 21st, the 100th anniversary of Brougham Christian Church and cemetery
will be conducted in conjunction with the centennial celebrations at the Brougham Public
School on Saturday, June 20th. Four generations of the Willson family are buried there. Mr.
Warren Willson of Brougham kneels beside the tomb of his late parents, Edward Willson
and Martha Ann Morton. Property for the school and the Christian Church was purchased
from Mr. Willson's great-great-grandfather, Thos. Hubbard more than 100 years ago. A cairn
was erected on the church site by Mr. Walter Percy of Markham in 1932.
Mr. Percy also erected and donated the stone gates at the entrance to the cemetery. Rev. C.
E. Fockler, the last living Minister of the Christian Church in Canada, will be the guest Pastor at
this special service.
